Has anyone experienced the window popping out of the frame on the bridge windshield? The frame has some play in it especially the side pieces. The plexiglass window recently partially pulled out of the windshield frame and gasket. It seems like the windshield needs an additional support bracket. Anyone have a fix?

I have heard about this issue and in fact one piece of my windshield is a different tint than the others and I don't know why it was replaced. There is another member here who made extra supports ,had them electroploished and riveted them to support the windshield. I've heard the problem is only in very rough seas.

Here is what I did to resolve the issue. I had same problem after being in rough seas. No issues after I added the additional brace. I made a template and had 2 pieces of stainless steel made. I made it at an angle to match the frame section between the side glass and the curved front piece of glass. I then sent them out to have polished (someone in Maine, English something or other). Fastened them to the inside with stainless steel rivets. These are the only photos I could find at the moment. you can see the top of the bracket in the lower photo and if you zoom in, you can see it behind the glass in the top photo of the port side.

Cod, thank you for the advice on creating brackets and pictures. Greatly appreciated. A bit of a pain to get the brackets made but sounds like the right solution.

While we're on the subject does anyone know where I would go to get the original colored windshield section ? I've tried FP

Have you tried asking SR for the windshield manufacturer? Tailor made??
You may be able to get someone locally to fabricate a replacement for you if you can't get it from the manufacturer.

Joe, if you're trying to fix the cosmetical defect on the front section, why don't you try having it electropolished?

I will contact Sea Ray see where they point me Gary.
Alex it's the "glass" that doesn't match not the frame. I was thinking of having a window tinter come and tint the rest dark see if that matches. Noone noticed this during the demo, sea trials etc. now I know it's different I can't stop looking at it. :smt021

The only explaination we can come up with is that someone fell into it and broke it. But why the PO accepted the different shade of glass is hard to believe

Found out the windshield is called a "wind deflector" as I said mine was replaced prior to us owning the boat and was wrong.
it has been bothering me all season so I removed it and brought it to a marine plastics fabricator who is making new pieces in the correct tint. Here are some pics of now and I'll post after pics when I install the new pieces. How could someone approve this "repair?" Look at the difference in color. You'd have to be blind or didn't give a damn.......I am also copying Steve's brackets to add support to the long side sections.

The color difference is huge. Glad you were able to locate someone locally to make up a new panel to match the others. Let me know if you are successful making up the brackets as I also need to do the same and we are both on Long Island.
