5.0 engine swap

I'm new. About to purchase a 215 Express 1999 with the 5.0. It is a project boat and the block is cracked. My question is, I happen to have a 1984 Trans Am in my garage with the 305 5.0, perfectly good. I intended to remove that engine for an LS1 down the road anyway so I don't need it. Can I use the block in the boat?

the block ,Yes. Just remember to replace the core plugs with brass . everything else must be marine or ignition protected

boat motor are all about torqu they dont rev 5-6 k
boat motor are similar to truck and rv motors

I agree with the above posts. I would look for another motor specifically a boat motor, and if you are going to replace it anyway why not go to a 5.7? More horsepower, better fuel economy and a better resale value.

Yeah, I've decided to get a 5.7 remanned engine. I'm trying to understand how much of it swaps over from the 5.0 to the 5.7 and how much new stuff I'll have to buy.

both are in the same family. if both are carbed everything will just bolt over to the new motor
