long story but pertains to this thread....a bit. will probably move it to its own thread but wanted to alert everyone to fuel discount in AC. promised I would post it on Active Captain as well for the owners..............

As you may well imagine, I travel a lot by our waterways, both the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercostal Waterways (ICW). I often tell myself that if I were not a factory captain, I could probably relax and enjoy some of the journeys I’ve made. From Corpus Christie TX to Boston MA, I have seen some beautiful spots and some not so much. What I do enjoy, is finding the new places which accommodate a minimum down time captain in need of some fuel and a bite to eat (preferably food that has not been under a heat lamp for hours, which happens a lot).

The old cliché’ of “I could write a book” on places I’ve been comes to mind and I am always willing to share my findings with others whom travel the same paths. I am a huge fan of the small but energized locations which treat boaters with a little more personality than the big “tourist” locations.

This past week I had the pleasure of transporting a 650 to Long Island Sound and on the east coast journey from Florida to New England, I had a float plan in place. Circumstances as they were, I had to adjust my plan and found myself coming up the Jersey coast with adjustments to be made. Cape May was too close for a stop and Brick was a bit too far, so I had to consider Atlantic City NJ. I would have preferred not stopping there as casinos do nothing for a factory captain on a run.

That was my logic but have now changed my thoughts, and here is why….on more than one occasion I have come into AC for the Dominic Annunziata Memorial Event and before docking at Farley’s, I have fueled up across the way at Kammerman’s Marina. Thinking this was only a fueling up location; I stopped again but this time inquired where I may stay for the night other than Farley’s. Chris Kammerman (that’s right, family owed since 1961) informed me that he has 6 slips and my 650 would fit just fine. Chris and Stacey Kammerman’s marina turned out to be exactly what I was looking for, and then some. Not only did they treat me like I was the most important boater in the world but actually took my crew to the store to purchase all necessities, and provided a short tour of the city after hours. Chris is also an Atlantic City Police Officer so the comforting feeling being at his location was obvious.

Point to be made is that I have stayed at more places on the eastern seaboard and have encounter more marinas than I can remember, but from hence forth, Kammerman’s will be tops on my list if AC is ahead of me as the day wears on. Chris and I spoke for some time and I informed him of my coming to AC for Dominic’s event for the past 3-4 years. Chris surprised me by stating that on this year’s event, if any CSR member says they are here for the occasion and mentions my name, you will receive the Capt. Rusty discount on fuel, gas (up to 93 octane!) or diesel…….thank you Chris and Stacey!!!!! Do not know what that discount adds up to, but I do know they were cheaper than Farley’s before any discounts applied, so it has to be a great deal.

Okay guys and gals, if you are planning to come to the Dominic Annunziata rally, please consider Chris and Stacey Kammerman’s marina for fuel and whatever your boating needs may be. They do have a cool selection of shirts and hats which surprised me for such a small outfit. Chris showed me some additional real estate they hope to acquire soon which will offer more than the 6 slips they currently have. And if that doesn’t do it, Stacey said she is adding a bar & grill to the site…..I will call ahead a day or so just to stay with them again!

Tina and I have fueled up at Kammerman's one more than one occasion, and have always found the service to be exemplary. There's something about the smaller, family owned marinas that can't be matched in today's "chain store" reality. We'll be sure to solicit them in the future. And that reminds me - I have to call and make some reservations!

thanks Rusty, I will plan on fueling up there, and asking for the Capt Rusty Discount...

Beach Haven Yacht Club gas is running around $2 a gallon now.. so, I believe that price I slightly lower than gas on LI...

I paid $3.39 on the South shore of LI last weekend.....

I've been to Farley probably a dozen times and I've never actually fueled up there. Always Kammermans. Price is always better and they are a BOAT/US co-op marina, which gets you a nickle or dime discount (if you're a member) per gallon. Always nice to patronize the little feller, too!

Our marina in Brick was posting $2.75/g for 89 octane (they don't sell diesel) last weekend. In NJ, typically, gas on the water is about 50 cents per gallon more than the cheapest one you can find on land. That would put it at about $2.50/g right now. I'm sure it'll start cranking back up with summer coming. $2/g is super cheap, even for Beach Haven YC Marina! You sure about that Rod?

Hi Ron,
The Lucky Dog II would like to join the party this year. I will PM you my information.
I plan to head down to Cape May on Sunday spending a week at Schooner Island.

Hey Fred
Welcome aboard! Got your info

OK people, going to need names and shirt sizes. Please PM me this info. Everyone on your boat gets a shirt but we're trying to order enough of each size to go around. Also, Rick needs first names for the name-tags. So here's an example...

"Summer Winds"
Bob (XL), Nancy (M), Little Bobby (M), Nicole (S), Grandma Ida (2XL).

Thanks!

Made the reservations - see you all next month!

Got my flight all booked, can't wait! I hope the weather is like last time I went. Coming solo this time, Admiral is going to hold down the fort.
