496 merc with 250 hours

Boat was run in fresh, brackish water. Any upcoming problems to deal with? Suppose to be clean, but have not seen boat yet. Should I consider newer boat with 60 hours, probably 20k more? Found 2010 with 496 and 2011 with 8.2. Both good engines I suppose. These are all 250 select/ slx boats.

I just purchased a 2006 250 SLX with 199 hours on the 496. I too would like to know of any issues? My understanding is with proper maint. we should get 1000 hours before a rebuild/replace?

250 hrs is nothing. Should last several hundred more hours without any major maintenance.
