480 DB Owners Club

Without measuring I’d say it’s definitely more than 12”. The door for the washer/dryer opens against the side bunk when fully opened so maybe you can use that to gauge the size until one of us can measure.

My WAG is 20-24”

Does anyone use their baitwell in the stern? All I have back there is a drain at the bottom and a light towards the top. No switch for the light (that I can find) and no opening for a supply or top-level drain. Looks half finished to me.

We use ours for storage. We typically keep a small cooler in there which is for the dinghy.
We have also used the area for a day cooler while swimming out on the hook, just loaded it up with ice and beer and so all of our friends could get quick access to a cold one. With the drain, makes it easy to get the melted ice out.
I had thought about putting insulation around the storage area to help keep the ice from melting so fast, but we don't use the area as a cooler very often, only a couple of times over the last 7 years.

Isn't your live well on the right side with a hinged Starboard lid? Mine has a pump/fill and drain not sure about a light. It came with a tall plastic pipe that fits in the drain. I don't fish so never used it for the intended purpose but have winterized the pump before. It sounds like you guys are describing the large fish box with faucet, light and drain to the left.

It is the baitwell towards the portside. The smaller of the two openings next to the transom door. It only has a drain at the bottom and a light about 80% of the way up the well. Never found a switch for the light. I use an aerator in there now, but wont hold a large amount of threadfins or whitebait. Does OK with pinfish when we got grouper and snapper fishing. I don't think it was ever completed (the installation of the well). I use the large fishbox for our catch. We take 8 bags of ice in a clean cooler and put them on the fish as needed. I assume that drain does not have a macerator pump on it. I should try to fit a screen of some sort over it.

I will be at the boat in a half hour. I will take a picture and post it later.

Thanks for the replies. :)

I was speaking from viewing from the cockpit side so sounds like we're talking about the same well. Mine definitely has an aerator plumbed with the fill fitting up near the top. The rocker switch for the pump is in the transom locker. I removed the stand pipe when we got the boat. I believe the fishbox, live well and transom trunk lights come on with the running lights.

Ahh... Gotcha. I will look for the switch. Does it take in raw water from the bottom of the hull?

Never got around to taking the picture today. Was there all day doing busy work on the boat and forgot about it. Such nice WX. 84, dry and a nice breeze. Polished the Strataglass all around and looks great.

Thanks for the directions, I will open the trunk up and take a peek.

On our 480, that light in the box come on when I turn on the cockpit lights located at the entrance door to the cockpit.

Thanks Mike. It looks like I am going to have to finish the baitwell myself. Maybe it was an option that was not selected on this particular boat. I will however look for a raw water pump to see if I can tamp into that to supply the well with a source of moving water from under the hull. I will drain the well using a standpipe connected to the drain at the bottom of the well. Either way, at least one hole will have to be cut into the well for a supply.

Appreciate everyone helping out here. Having fresh, live bait is a big thing here and we are coming into our best time of year for fishing.

All of my cabin and bathroom doors have this mechanism inside them. I swapped the bad one from the bathroom for the laundry room for now, as that is the one least in need of a lock.

There is no manufacturer name, nor part number on it anywhere. The brass trim piece over the latching mechanism says "Period Brass" on it.
I have the same issue now with my 2000 480. Brass mechanism with the only marking 993? Did you ever get any useful response? This website is not very user friendly.

Interior door locks are Southco Mobella McCoy.

Looking for parts for an 03 480DB

I need two parts for the boat and wondering if anyone has replaced them yet.

One is the cable/control head for the swim platform. The rubber jacketing on the cable has broken down over the years and is starting to come off in places. Before it becomes a problem, I would like to replace it.

The second is the drain assembly from the sink in the master head. The black threaded pipe which goes up into the sink has cracked and needs to be replaced. I have a feeling if I walk into a Home Depot, the size will not be like a standard sink drain size.... but I could be wrong.

Any help is much appreciated.

You can get a new one from GHS.

The switch for it is tied into the cockpit courtesy lights. I use mine for clams, lobsters or crabs... Great to keep things alive until you are ready to cook them.
