480 DB Owners Club

Quick question, Anybody know if the original subzero fridge in a 2004 480DB has connections where you can add freon? or whether there's a service manual or the model number of the fridge? Thanks

The model number of the subzero fridge in my 2001 480DB is 249RP. The freezer is 249FFI.

Thanks Steve and dcpringle, that was exactly what I needed. This forum is great. I hate to ask this next question, but what does the "Elect" rocker switch do? Is mine missing some letters? For what it's worth, google pointed me to New Wire Marine's "Eject" switch cover that shows a person being being ejected from the boat.....might come in handy

They have a bunch of funny Carling Switch Covers - Eject/Gatling Gun/etc.

Hey guys, anybody know where this (photos below) hooks on a 2004 w/ QSM11's? It's on the rear of the engine, looks like it would reach the gear cooler, but if it does, where it would plug doesn't look right. Thanks.

WDR, sorry I have the Kitty Cats, not familiar with QSM11's.

Every sensor on my QSM11's and gears were replaced and I have the removed ones; not a one is a single wire sensor..

I guess the real question is what's not working? If everything is a go, then don't worry. Tie it up til something presents itself.

I’m getting an odor from the bilge below the bunk bed. I cleaned it with bleach water and hosed it out. I’m still getting an odor. Where does the drain hose that dumps into this bilge come from? What is causing the odor? What should I use to clean the bilge? It is becoming rotten

Keith.

I believe the drain hose comes from the overflow of the drain sump in the center hall way. This is the sump that all the showers and sinks drain into, then overboard. If the pump malfunctions and does not pump, the overflow will drain into that bilge area.

I think you are right. Sounds like I need to clean the sump box. I am not getting any overflow in the bilge area from the sump box though. I imagine the odor is coming through the over flow drain tube and that is what I am smelling. I just ordered some Campco gray water treatment after reading one of Frank's old posts and will try that. I usually put a little bleach water down the drains when I close up the boat for the weekend....Either that is not effective or I need to use more bleach.

Is the area around that sump dry? If the ac drain that is under the stairs gets clogged, then the pan will overflow and end up in that same area under the aft bunk. If you are getting a smell, I would think the sump box in the crew room is working, but you have drainage on the sole back there.

Does anyone have a 480DB silhouette or logo that they've used on a shirt or a business card that they'd share? Thanks!

A follow up on tracking my odor inside the cabin. I found the problem. The odor was not coming from the bilge under the bunk bed as I originally thought. It was coming from the washing machine. About a month ago a friend of mine checked out the washing machine (his boat does not have one) and left the door slightly open. Unknown to me, there was some water in the drum and no telling how long it had been there. I have owned the boat for a year and half and never used the washing machine....thus I did not know there was water inside. The water looked like lake water. I guess the influx of air to the drum started the funk smell. I ran it for a cycle and it cleaned itself up. My plans are to remove the washing machine and use the area for storage. The washing machine did not turn itself off either.

There is a chance the water came up the drain hose into the drum. I am not sure if that can happen, but it was mentioned on the dock by a few people. The water was nasty, to say the least.

Back to a fresh smelling 480.

We always leave the door propped open on our washing machine but only use it to dry towels etc... Condensation still forms inside during the summer most likely coming through the thru hull drain (which is just below the waterline). You can close the seacock if not using it for washing.

I run mine once a month with a couple of tablespoons of bleach. There is also a "strainer" at the water pump that should be opened cleaned routinely; that is located at the very bottom right hand side front of the machine. You may have to remove the cleat that holds the machine from moving. When we are in the Bahamas the "wrinkle master" runs a lot.....
