Seems that Searay had an off year when it came to cabinets and finishings on the 2007 48 Sundancers. Apparently an issue on almost or maybe every 2007 out there. Has anyone had any success dealing with Searay on rectifying the problems? Love to hear how cabinets/trims were repaired or what the solutions were and did Searay step to the plate. Looking at purchasing a 48 soon but all have this issue and I definitely want my cabinets looking better than what I've seen.

Thanks

I contacted searay and they told me it was out of warranty and past the "good will" policy. THey directed me to the manufacturer whom manufactured the laminates. No luck there either, they dont have any in stock and require a minimum order of 100 48 sheets. So i am left with having it done locally. I only have a small piece on the curved top valance above the gallery so mine isnt bad at all. However i must have walked away from 10 boats in the 2007 year because it was so bad. I have seen this on 08's as well.

What type of issue are you seeing? Delamination? Discoloration?

On mine not too bad. Cabinet doors okay more so trim pieces. Color okay, some seams and edge delaminating slightly. Not bad but if you're looking for it you will see some areas, especially if looking as light reflects in a certain way.

No help from Searay, don't like that!

Delamination or separation and cloudiness in the clear layer covering the simulated wood grain.

If t here is a secret to getting some help from Sea Ray on the simulated wood finishes, it is to start with your dealer, not at Sea Ray customer service. Get the service manager at the dealership to be your ally in going to Sea Ray with the problem. It also helps if you are the original purchaser. Cold calls to customer service on out of warranty issues seem to be falling on deaf ears these days.

There is an '07 48DA 2 slips down from me and Sea Ray's interior contractor was at the marina last month replacing all of the laminate in the interior, but this was a boat sold here, kept here, one owner who has the dealership do all his maintenance and repairs, so they know the condition of the boat.

My friend that bought a 450 Express had his all redone locally with a real wood cherry laminate. It looks amazing.

Frank, our local dealer is Marine Max and i really dont have a relationship with them anymore since ive purchased my last 2 boats outside their network. My original salesmen is long gone from when i purchased my 320da new back in 2007. Searay customer service i have a always used and for the most part has always got me the information i needed. I did respond back when they denied any warranties but my guess is that is their initial response to any request such as this. My repairs to the laminate are small that i was hoping to just purchase the material and have a carpenter take care of it. But the source of the material is not there, so i dont know what to do.
