48 DA Owners Club

This is the first weekend we were not at Watch Hill this year. How were the mosquito's? They had been ok up until last weekend. We are heading back on Friday for 10 days.
I'll see you there on Friday.

Mosquitoes were out from sundown for about an hour. Other than that fine.
Sand flies on the beach were annoying. Will still be coming back.

Sooliman i did meet them Super nice. One of them lent me teflon tape and the other one was making chicken parm pizza.

THAT is good living!
hehehe

They were both really nice.

Has anyone replaced their duckbill valves on the vacuflush pump? I have one pump that sometimes loses vacuum and sounds like replacing them should be the fix. I’m seeing them in 1.5” or 2” sizes. Anyone familiar which ones the 48DA uses

Thanks great find. There shop is walking distance to my boat. I ordered a duck bill kit just to keep on the boat for a spare.

I took my time since the boat was on the hard but it could be done in an hour or two all depends on how much cleaning you like to do... if it’s hot and humid it’s going to be smelly so faster is better. It’s a disgusting job for sure.

This, for sure, isn't a pleasant task....but it's really not difficult to tackle. These days, you can use your handy-dandy mask while doing it too.

When you see what they charge to come out to your boat, you'll realize it makes sense to at least try and fix it yourself - and take the savings to top off the fuel tanks. Quick story - years ago, in another boat that was a single head boat, we lost our head on day one of a long trip. Long story short, a $1,500+ hit on day one to bring in a remote sanitation specialist to change out a few parts I could've done myself taught me to stay a'head' of these maintenance issues.
Good luck telling the Admiral she can't use the bathroom - that alone is worth staying on top of it!

What slip did they give you? I was assigned D-1. We are heading over Thursday night.

Hey Walter - D1 - score! I think we're in the middle if I remember correctly, D8-ish....will let you know (or you'll see me).

That's interesting....they assigned me D1 two weeks ago for this coming trip. I have no idea how they make slip assignments over there, but it leaves much to be desired.

I wish I would have seen this post before I changed the exit hoses on my pumps. Should have taken the pumps out and replaced the duck bills. Probably would have been easier to pull them with the hoses on them. And yes it was hot and humid. :(

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend.... Be safe and take lots of pictures!!!

Does anyone know where I can get Sea Ray part #738716 from? It’s the 4.5x10 plastic vent cover in the cockpit.

I sourced mine (direct OEM replacement) from kitchensource.com - they were the only ‘hafele’ distributor around for the exact oem part. Let me know if you need more info.
