48 DA Owners Club

Any of you have experience with the port and starboard "three window" upgrade? I ordered the kit from Sea Ray which comes with new inner and outer trim rings. Just wondering if anyone here has tackled this and what to expect.

I would be interested in learning more about this as well. What is different about the new rings you ordered? What was the cost?

Same, would love to know how I can tell if these rings were updated already and if not, what is involved in the install and the cost.

Do you mind sharing the Sea Ray part number and cost? I would love to see this once you get it done. Thanks!

SEA RAY PART # 2304777

I called Sea Ray and they were not in stock and $660 for the set. Found a Sea Ray dealer that had them in stock and got them coming. From what I heard it was a sealant issue.

Next question - Underwater lights

Who has them and how many on the transome? 3 or 4 accross the back? Anyone do any on the sides in the stern area? Lumitec says 4 on a boat this size. Haul out is scheduled for Feb 3 need to get this all figured out. Wifey is concern it is such a big swim platform they might be not worth it.

Are any of your windows loose? I was just at the storage building and checked all of ours and they feel really solid.

I wanted to share a few upgrades we made in the past year. As almost any 48 sundancer knows is delamination of the high gloss interior can be an issue. For the most part we got a boat that didn't have much for issues but what it had was going to be an issue for myself. We thought we had tracked down a few sheets of the correct material and had a couple of techs up from FL to do the work. Turns out the color was just off enough to be too noticeable. We couldn't track down any of the correct material and after much research it isn't being made anymore and hasn't been for some time. The below pictures is what we landed on.

The other mod we did that I don't typically see is our options for bow speakers and we also added speakers to the dash. For some background I really dislike the look of speakers on the bow as I like a clean, factory look to the boat. Thus the option to but JL M880's in the anchor locker has been a great solution. Provides great sound and the go away when not in use. We did have to add new shocks when this was done. For the dash speakers I was super nervous and skeptical but my wife liked the idea. Our A/V guy is really good and insisted he could give them a factory look. These are also JL M880's that have been recessed into the dash to make them sit flat. A lot of work went into this to add the fiberglass recessed area to secure the speakers then respraying the entire dash. We are really happy with the over all sound.

The interior upgrade looks really nice Zach, and your audio guy is obviously a pro!

Thanks, I wasn't sure about either but really happy how they turned out. Our A/V guy helped with the interior when the project started going south. Its just enough of a contrast to compliment the cherry.

Yes, my surveyor told me that Starboard port middle was moving more than normal.

Well... Its official I am a Sea Ray owner again. Very excited to get started on her this weekend except in south Florida we are having a cold spell and only expected to hit 70 this weekend....LOL might have to wear pants.

Heck - we had to turn the heat on - on top of long pants!

Welcome to the club :)

However you get zero sympathy on the weather as our boat is in heated storage....enjoy the pants :)

You should be able to find them on Amazon. I believe they're called plastic hole plugs, and mine are white.
