48 DA Owners Club

So anyone do anything with the cockpit sink faucet? I hate how it is offset, you wash your hands and you get water everywhere. The base is so far from the sink it is stupid. Looking for ideas here? I don't want to drill new holes and I don't want something taller. I am thinking about finding a place to remake the faucet tube to push out farther into the middle of the sink.
I agree with your cockpit faucet issue Grant. Please let us know what you find to fix this irritating issue. Thanks.

Generator Fuel/Water Separator Filter. The previous owner of my 48 has a Sierra 23-7760 fuel separator filter on the genny. It costs $32 for a two pack. I "believe" that the Fleet Guard equivalent, which I always ran on my 420, is a FS-19709 which run in the neighborhood of $66 for a two pack. Is this one of those places where a penny or two can be saved, or is it not worth the risk for a savings of $34 for two filters?

Appreciate your comments.

That’s a tough call. I use Sierra on my outboard water separator with no issues but… I think I would go with the Onan original.

I found a couple of Marine Stainless fabricators here in Ft Lauderdale that look like the can fabricate a new one. If I do this I am sure there are more people that will want one so let me know if you are interested as I will get it quoted based an how many I can have made at once. This will help keep the price down. I am hoping to be able to make this for a couple hundred bucks

Hi Grant. I’ve read through (skimmed) this entire 48DA owners club thread and really appreciate everyone’s input. I will take one of the faucets if you decide to have them made. I agree that they are less than ideal as they came from Sea Ray.

What satellite system do you use Dish or Direct TV? Are their advantages to using one or the other on the boat?

I have a KVH HD7 with Directv HD24 receivers

Why?
That was the satellite system and rcvrs on my boat when I bought it.

I have an Intellian s6HD with Directv, and it picks up all three satellites very well. We had Dish previously, and weren't happy with it all.

Walker Air Sep Field Service Kit arrived today. Nice packaging and all items in good shape.

What did you think about TNT's website: Scandvik, Inc.? Looks exactly what we need.

Ok so went to the boat to work on a couple of dock things and pulled the faucet pipe off... Not good, this thing is stamped / rolled at the end with o-rings and collars. Cutting and extending is an issue as the pipe itself is too thin to weld and reshape. So I am going to plan B and look for replacement. I started research last night and found a couple on the InterWeb. Going back today to do some mock ups with PVC as getting the overhang to where I want it tends to push me into units with to much height. So I want to mock it up and see where best happy medium will work. I will keep everyone posted.

I found this one on the Scadvik site. It is for a hot/cold system but you can purchase the spout separately. Neck reaches out 8-5/8".

Thats not bad and I will look at it for sure. I found this and mocked it up with PVC and it would work. Wifey says no need for hot water but it would be an easy add. But what you found may be an option.

I gave up on using that sink to wash hands and instead installed a new faucet and filtration system so we could drink the holding tank water. Saves from bringing gallons every time we come to the boat.
