It's that time of year and I have clearance from the Admiral to finally trade up. I am looking at a few 48's - 2006 and 2007 model years, each with QSC 540's. Any thoughts or caveats about these model years?

Hi

There are not many differences between the model years except the original owners option list. Teak helm or carpet, washer/dyer or not, rope or all chain, electronics package...etc.

The one thing I did notice on a few '06s from mine were the hardtop side grab rails. Mine extend 90% to the front windshield, with 4 bolt throughs. The 06' only extended from the lower corner to the pillar between the aft and forward side window. May have been a Sea Ray safety upgrade, but that's a guess.

Good luck in your search, either model year, you will love the 48DA.

I agree with Rich, I looked at 05-07s and ultimately bought an 05. I think there was a Sunpad difference but the bigger differences I found were in the options, hours, conditions of the various boats. Good luck and you'll love the 48!

Jason

It is a great boat. Keep looking for the best price and most options. Some were really decked out.

My only complaint with ours was the Sea Ray Navigator. We have an E120 and a Sea Ray Navigator. They are out of business, and ours went down. A company out here in Colorado is now repairing them.

Now that it has been repaired, it is working fine. If I had a choice, I would have gone with dual E120's.

Good luck.

Ken

I took out both Sea Ray Navigators and put in dual E120s for that very reason .... made it part of my 'deal' in fact. I also learned that adding a washer is basically out of the question without ripping the boat into many pieces, so if that's important to you then it's the one option you need to have in the boat you buy. Now how well that washer works (or doesn't work) is another topic entirely.

Regards,
Jason

Washer works great as long as you like wrinkled clothes. Don't try to dry towels unless you have a couple of days.

Actually it is good for a few items such as shorts and tee-shirts. We use ours if there is not a marina one available.

Guys,
I love the 48. Good luck on the search.

Our washer/dryer turned into a toaster and fried itself. First thing after launch this year we will service it and then never use it again!!

WHICH EVER YEAR YOU GET WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL BOAT! My boats big brother that's for sure!

We're looking pretty hard at 48's as well. Almost bit on a new in stock '08 in December with the Take Command Sales event. Timing is just a bit off and we need to wait just a bit longer. Your thread title says 07 vs 08 but your OP says 06 vs 07. The big difference I've seen is no DTS when you are looking at 06's (and I think 07's as well). 08's have it.

2005's i have seen well under 400k, , 350k with hours and pewter
2006 at 390-400k any color or white
2007 dunno
