460DA Selling Prices

I didn't check the HIN, but the display sign indicated 2000. If it was a 2002, I would have made a contingency offer if the first one didn't go though.

Carv, the hard-top was available as an option in 2000, so the presence (or lack thereof) of the galley porthole is a more reliable indicator of whether a 460 is a 2000 or 2001.

Hard-top 2000's were rare, but they do exist. In fact, you know of one: remember the guy from your area who was in a wheel chair, so he converted a davit to hoist him aboard? It was a unique vessel: hard-top, but no galley porthole, a hydraulic platform and a hoist...

Ahh you're right, I do remember now, Sea Ray was out a bunch of times to figure out why the hardtop wiggled so badly. I guess I always just figured it was an early 2001. They had a variety of different support bars they tried and finally ending up with basically what you see on the 2001 boats.

Interestingly, this weekend I test drove a 1999 460 with TNT and Cummings engines. This boat had a beautiful exterior but the cockpit had multiple little 1/2"-1" tears in the vinyl. The "performance" of this boat seemed odd to me-2200RPMs yielded 19 Knots. RPMs topped out at 2500 on the Starboard engine and nearly 3000 on the Port. to get 23Knots she was turning 2500rpms. Does anybody else feel this is unusual?

Overall impression of the boat was that there was a lot of real estate there compared to my 330. Just concerned about the performance. Thoughts are appreciated.

I was out on a friends 2001 460 with hardtop, cummings engines, and factory bow thruster, no lift, this weekend. He picked it up out of Jacksonville last week for around $185. If you are interested, he looked at three other boats and passed on them but has the surveys, I'm sure he would share with you what he found. He also owns a 1999 460 that they keep in FL. Night and day difference with the hardtop.

If interested in the other boats' info, send a pm and I will forward his number.
Great boat, I wish I could afford one, let alone two...

Based on the performance I saw on the 2002 460DA I took out your numbers are very low. I saw 18 knots at 2000 rpm, the boat ran about 23 knots at 2300 rpm and WOT at load was 2670 rpm's and we saw 26+ knots. We had 3/4+ fuel and three people on board.

Marine Max had a 2000 460DA at the Atlantic City show this weekend. She was listed at $209k and had a sold sign on her. Fully equipped with hardtop and cockpit A/C. She had a third party "Freedom lift" on the transom. Looked like a factory bow thruster install. Original electronics, which looked okay too. Had two G4s on the hard top, but original TVs. I thought that strange, but what the heck?

Very nice fiberglass, some very tiny tears in the cockpit vinyl. The interior was excellent except for the carpeting, which needed to be replaced IMHO. Overall, not a bad boat. Might make an offer if the deal falls through.

We also say a 2008 44DA that was in showroom condition. Perfect interior, exterior, cockpit etc. Hardtop, bow thruster, stern thruster, M1 dish, stainless steel anchor, dual E120s, FLIR, stern view color cam, EPIRB on hardtop, some other things I can't remember. One of the sales guys mentioned some kind of "special performance" props. I think he said "veem" and that they were very expensive. Whatever. Overall a very very nice boat. Couldn't make the deal work though. Oh well.

I didn't like the new models as much. The new 450DA is one unattractive boat.

Frank, I saw the same boat 2000 46 DA at AC... Did not recall it having a hard top, but I was not looking too closely... The wax on the hull made it look like new... The one thing I could not get past was the strange smell in the cabin... I think new carpets might fix that... My favorite boat was the 63 Azimut. I thought the Azimut boats were outstanding... Only wish I had the money for one... I would not trade my 340 for that new 350 DA. It was the worst boat in the show... They wanted 500K for it, and IMHO it was not worth 100K... I had sticker shock with all of the new Sea Rays... Not sure who has the money for new boats in this economy...

Thanks for the info Jack! I was definitely disappointed to say the least that the numbers weren't a bit higher for the boat I drove. I hope your test drive went better than mine. I'm probably holding off right now for a multitude of reasons. Good luck with your purchase!

I noticed that too. Not sure what it was. It was pretty faint. My sales guy called this morning. The deal fell though on that 460 and it's available again. But somehow.... I'm not excited about it...

But I do like and think I want a 460. Hmm. Need to think about that. I did ask the salesman about the hard top. He confirmed that the boat does not have a hardtop but does have cockpit A/C that the original (one owner boat) owner added. Maybe that's what confused me since we did look at the 44DA that does have a hard top and A/C. Whatever. Anyway, it's not a hardtop boat.

I need to decide if I want to make an offer on her.

They're nice boats. We didn't look at them. My budget isn't anywhere near that price range and we didn't have enough time to see everything since we were going to dinner by boat in Pt. Pleasant that evening.

Obamama's buddies have lots of government money for new boats I guess.

Frank, If you can get the boat, out the door, with tax, for 150K + Just Ducky it might be a good deal... I has over 700 hours (the tacs and hour meters were replaced at 700 hours.) If you make the deal, have them put in all new carpet, and change out the head filters. It may also need new cockpit carpets, since they were not on board during the show. It looked like a very clean boat. It is nice because it is owned by MM and they can take a trade...

Jack,
Your numbers are fairly close to mine and accurate for the 6CTA motors. Our boat has the hydraulic lift as well with 450 lbs of dinghy on the back.

Jack,
On a trip up to Mackinac last summer we got around 31-32 gph overall. This summer we ran a little harder and further to Charlevoix, 2300-2340 (88-90%) and fuel consumption was up to around 37-38 gph. Those are real world numbers because I was trying to keep up with a couple of faster boats. Fuel burn goes up but the motors ran great.

Thanks again James for the information. Looked at the boat on Monday and really liked it alot. It was Very well taken care and showed well. The owner took us out and the boat ran great. We are working through a few details but we maybe close on this one. There sure are alot of them out there if this one does not work out.

Jack,
Good luck with the search. If you are looking at the 2002 model, it will have the mechanical 6CTA and no balsa in the sides. Those motors are stout, just not real fast in that boat. The Cummins mechanic who came on the sea trial a few years back said the motors can run 90% all day with one in eight hours at 100%, if you are propped correctly. I don't run it that way however.

You will probably want to upgrade the electronics at some point. Also check the sump behind the couch in the mid cabin. It's an overlooked area on that boat. Message me if you want particulars.

I am a yacht broker in the SF Bay Area and sold a 2003 460 for $220,000.

There are definitely some good deals out there if you are patient and know where to look.
