Has anyone had any success replacing a small portion of the vinyl rub rail?
I have 2 small sections that have "rubs" on them, they've been there since I've had the boat and it bugs me every time I see it.
I talked with the Sea Ray factory this morning and got the part number.
Supplied by Taco V21-9681WHC20D but it not a profile that is currently produced by them

I have. When I bought my boat it had a couple of damaged areas as you mention, and Taco no longer makes the exact profile. However they have profile that is extremely close. What I did was have the existing rub rail taken off of my swim platform, and used that as the "donor" rub rail on the hull and used the newer profile rub rail on my swim platform. My swim platform and hull come within an 1/8" of each other and you can't tell a difference between the two profiles. The bonus is that since I only needed about 6 feet to fix the damaged areas on the hull to begin with, I now have about 14 feet of original rub rail in stock.

Well ... That's promising.
Were you able to use the same stainless insert with the new vinyl?

Considering a bump up 10’... I’m looking at a 46’ Sundancer DA. I currently own a 36’ Sundancer. My question is about the Diesel engines. The listing says they have 1000 hours on them. Isn’t that just about the time they need freshened? I’m not looking for a headache. The generator has 1500 hours on it as well. I know little about Diesel engines. My sundancer has 8.1s gassers in it. Probably decent room to negotiate on price?

I think I've seen that boat around. Same year as ours and it appears to be in great shape. Check the maintenance records but if routinely done with occasional Cummins certified service, 1100 hours is average for freshwater use. Also, is it all freshwater history or is it transplanted from a coastal port? If it's all Great Lakes lineage then the price is right on because it's fully equipped with newer hybrid touch screens, hydraulic platform, cockpit air, new fridge, spare props. But if it has a lot of saltwater experience then the price might be a bit high. All depends on the care, the records, and the history.
Hope that helps.

Beautiful boat. I frequent Yachtworld just for fun, and to keep an eye on the market. I've seen that boat, and think it may win the most fenders on the rails award too. If you're not stuck on the cherry interior Captain Jim has a really nice 460 with all the toys and less hours https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2001/sea-ray-460-sundancer-3217057/?refSource=standard listing

We bought our 460 with CATS, 985 hours on them. All comes down to the maintenance records. I wouldn't be afraid of those hours one bit. I would be more afraid of a boat that age with less hours on it, as then you are looking for problems of failure from lack of use, which will cost you way more in the long run. Once you grasp the fact your moving into diesels, you will be thrilled with both the performance/efficiency of them. I could go on with specifics, email me anytime for more rambling on the subject!

I have almost 1600 hours on my 2001 Cummins without any major issues. There are plenty of these with 4000+ hours. I wouldn’t worry at all about the hours. Frankly when I am helping folks look for a boat I think more use is better in the diesel world. You should definitely read sbmar.com as tony is an expert on these engines. If you’ll pm me your number I can give you advice on almost anything regarding a 460. Great boat, great ride, great engines!

Finally found the proper hatch lifts...an oil rubbed bronze finish...much nicer than the Chrome lifts with this floor. :)

I saw that one as well. Kind of like the cherry
This was mentioned quite a while back in a brief discussion and owners weighed in on both sides. The majority of the 460's and other Sea Rays of that era were made with "cherry" and some with "maple" cabinets (it's all fake, photographed "wood" laminated on manufactured substrate; if you want actual real wood cabinets, buy something more expensive or buy a Regal yacht of that vintage). The take away is to get the boat with a great maintenance record that best suits your needs. Although we only looked at cherry initially in the twelve 460's we examined, we were able to get an excellent and well maintained 460 that just happened to have the lighter interior. The maple finish has remained modern to this day and certainly brightens up the "cave", so don't rule it out, IMHO.

I have a 2003 460 DA that I paid 230k in 2011. In 2017, a friend of mine bought the same year and model. He paid 195k. Before he bough the boat, I had a broker send me a list of all boats sold in the last couple of years. It told what it was listed for, how long it was on the market and what it sold for. The average selling price for the 02, 03 460DA was 197k. That was 2 years ago. I hope this helps.

Does anybody remember this topic back in December, these new cup holders are fitted and deeper to hold the big Yeti and others as well. Pretty cool for me, as My big Stainless cups fall over in those little rings on the boat, not a good fit either for kids. I bought a bunch to replace the raised ring cup holder style. Some people on the website say they had trouble drilling with a 4" hole saw, they didn't fit per the instructions. Just wondering if anybody had any issues with theirs when they installed. Will be drilling a test hole on wood to see if they fit, but wanted to see if anybody else had to struggle. I of course bought some for my buddys boat for a Christmas gift, and he says "do yours first" :)

We are getting so close to launch day...but I am bored out of my mind looking for things to do...So a friend threw an idea by me and I gave it a try...I like it. :)

Fiber optic light star field on the arch. For those nights when you can't see the stars outside, we will have them inside. LOL

377 lights with full spectrum color options and dimming/cross fade features (it will also move to the beat of the music). We had some fun and patterned several constellations into the idea with 3 different size fiber optic lights to give the sense of bright and faint (near and far) stars. I know, call me crazy!!!

Yes....completely reversible was my goal. The next guy might not like it...heck, I might not after the summer is over..lol

I ran a 12v dedicated feed into the arch to a new rocker switch on the stbd. Side panel. So it is independent of any other lights.
