Good information. Thank you.
Sorry, I am just now seeing this.
I have the premium berber Corinthian carpet with the PVC backing. we vacuum the carpeting when we leave the boat so it is pretty clean when we make it back to Florida which is anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. In the late Fall, I remove the carpeting and take it to the beach house where I can un-roll it over the winter and shampoo it with a Hoover carpet cleaner.
Our situation may be a bit atypical since our boat is in a marina with a large dry stack area. We get some soot from the lift trucks and even though the canvas is buttoned up as tight as we can make it. By the end of Fall, the carpet begins to look a bit dingy, so a winter cleaning is necessary. One thorough cleaning is enough to keep the carpet looking nice all season as long as you vacuum it periodically.
I appreciate your input. It looks like Corinthian will be the way to go for the next cockpit flooring project. Currently I have a traditional nylon Berber carpet that snaps into place and I power wash it once a season. It is still looking good after approximately seven seasons of use, but...
Did you replace you hot water heater? I am having an issues finding the correct replacement unit.
I didn't replace the water heater as it wasn't the cause of the leak.
I did call the customer service folks at Camco / Kuuma and they were very helpful - you might want to give them a call. They gave me their stock levels and local retailers for my area and I was able to find the units on line as well.
Stove not working.
I thought I would share my recent discovery regarding the stove on our 460. I wasn't getting any power, lights, heat, etc to the controls and found a relay in the cabinet under the sink. Relay had power but wasn't sending power to stove and I traced the relay switch to a small plunger switch in the countertop that senses when the top is closed so that power is cut. When I bypassed the switch, everything started to work again. I only wish I had discovered this last year when we had to finish our vacation cooking everything on our grill.
Thanks! I went with the Attwood replacement unit. Works like a champ.
Garboard drain plug
Has anyone installed a drain plug? This year I had a new morning cover made for winter storage. I went down to boat this past sunday after the extreme cold spell to find my aft bilge pump well with frozen water that had accumulated over the past couple of months. now thinking of installing drain plug. any help will be appreciated.
Getting excited for the boating season now...the new Aquaweave carpet by Corinthian Marine is done and shipped...Will be to me on Tuesday, can't wait to get it installed!
Looks great! I'm thinking of doing the same with Corinthian. Is there a discount code for CSR members? 15% or something along those lines?
Yes. It’s in the rotating banner on the top of the forum. Just tell them when you call. Call me when you’re ready to template. I can give you a few pointers.
Seems they have a template for the 340 already ...should that be ok? (I know I'm in the wrong thread, but searched Corinthian and ended up here)
In my opinion. No. You really need to template your own boat if you want it to look the best.
Most definitely do your own template!!! That way it is perfect to your boat and how you want it to fit. Like Josh says, if you want some pointers feel free to message me as well. I just did it 2 weeks ago and Corinthian called to say well done then emailed and said "I want to compliment you again, the pattern and the lining up of each piece! Nicely done!" . Not bragging...I m just pretty anal about templates and stuff like this...LOL
Deb and Jennifer along with Rafael were great to work with. I get it tomorrow so we shall see how well I actually did.
Update from last night....I did not know we could get a 15% discount for mentioning Club Sea Ray at Corinthian Marine. So, last night I emailed them and shared that I had just learned about the membership discount...this morning I received a very nice email and that they would be happy to apply a $228.48 credit to my card on file. That was the best email I have sent in 2018!! (probably 2017 for that matter)
Now THAT is customer service!!!! Kudos to Corinthian!!!
Servicing engines . I have the cummins CTA engines. Cummins recommends Valvoline premium blue. 15W 40. Is that the best or do others have opinions?
Premium blue is a good oil. Shell Rotella is also a good oil. I use whichever is on sale. Last year the Valvoline, this year Rotella. Always the 15-40.
I agree with fr8dog....I use Shell Rotella T4 15W-40. Be sure to grab samples to send out for analysis. I use Blackstone Labs. There are others.
Carpet arrived and we were able to set it in tonight. WOW, they do a fantastic job at that company!!! Send them a good template and they will send you a work of art. We are Very happy customer!!!
We were able to arrange the nesting of the patterns to also include the head floors. We always struggled with what type of rug to get because none of them fit properly. Now they do!!!
Even was able to fit a piece in the cabinet port side where the battery switches are located.
Why do they post and are turned sideways???? Cant figure out how to fix that.
The fit looks great, do you know if they saved the template, I would love to do the head floors
