460 DA Owners Thread

Anyone found a better solutions to putting the chocks on and off the swim platform? There’s a thread on here where a member was modifying the standard chocks. Search Quick Release Chocks. But he’s not making them anymore. And those retro fit pop-up chocks are outrageously expensive. And not sure how well they adapt to ours already having the guides built in the platform.
Anyone seen any mods that make them go quicker and easier?
Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello, Time to replace the Dometic AC unit in the salon.

Has anyone done this lately. The issue is not replacing but finding a 16000 BTU 230 dometic unit. Everything seems back ordered for months still. I have been talking to Citi Marine. They have the CTM units that are a direct replacement. Has anyone used these units? Any other ideas?

Thanks

I just installed a 16k CTM unit on my 510. Love it!! SUPER SUPER quiet compared to the Cruisair next to it. Both units are in my cockpit and there is no comparison to the low decibel rating for the CTM versus the cruise air.

am think I am going to go with CTM and give it a try?

I need to change starboard cummins raw water pump. Any tips on how to get access? Glendining recoiler and exhaust is in the way.

You need to change the whole pump or just the impeller?

It’s easier to just remove the entire pump. And I changed to smx pumps and have been satisfied.

Did you move the Glendining recoiler out of the way?

No I can reach it just laying on top of the cablemaster.

The "quick release" chocks are probably the up there with my top 3 improvements to the boat. Its too bad they are no longer being made. Its actually quite simple and if you have a fab guy near you you may be able to have this done to your existing chocks. If you need more detailed photos I can take some along with some measurements. shoot me a pm if you're interested.

Agree with the change to SMX pumps. Impellers are easier to change and splined. When I had the original Sherwood pumps, it was better to change the starboard impeller by removing the pump and doing it on the bench. Now with the SMX, it takes maybe 20-30 minutes tops to do both changes, in place. And yes, the cable drum makes things a bit tight, but still do-able.

My boat came with Weavers removable chocks - I'm pretty happy with them. I remove them when the dingy is off the platform, and the fixed bracket is relatively unobtrusive.

Glad to hear! Does it also push more air?

Have the boat completely winterized and having one of those moments where I don't remember if I need to "De-Energize" all of the main batteries or not. I have shore power to it all water and check on the boat every few days. Do you de-energize or leave them energized?

Unless you head out at night and need to turn on the lights in the cockpit or have a cold beer in the fridge, de-energize!

Ok sounds good. I’m assuming the charger will still charge and the bilge pumps will still pump.
