460 DA Owners Thread

Lack of use has killed more generators than you can shake a stick at... 300 hours on 20 year old gennie is not much use... Sorry to hear about this and hopefully it will be not too painful.
I have an 01 and the gen has 1900 hrs. Runs like a top.

Frank: I have a 10.0 BDTA but westerbeke says any of the following. Do you know something I don’t about 30w?

it doesn’t allow straight 40w so I assume in a hot climate 15/40 is as close as I can get.

Thanks

josh

I just wonder why. It’s strange to see 30w in our climates. I guess if it’s worked for 15 years it’s fine. Remember I also have a 10.0 so that could be different as well.

Side note I installed the GSI sound shield and it’s amazing. It’s probably half as loud as before. I need to take and post some pictures

I think it has to do with the additive package in the oil. SAE oil has a higher zinc content (more lubricity) than multi-vis oil due to the additive package in 15W-40. The 8.0 BTD is workhorse industrial engine. Dunno what the 10.0 KW engine started as.

Hi All,
We launched last week....then the snow came..crazy weather for sure!

While sitting in the salon I happened to look up at the brass light fixtures and was thinking I wanted to change them out to a chrome finish because they were getting kind of nasty looking. The problem is, I didn't want to spend the money on new lights. After some deliberation, I decided to remove one and see if I could polish it up and get the crud off...Holy cow...A minute of compounding on each one and voila, I have a chrome trim for the salon lights.

Do you have the cost and model number of the shield? Thanks

I am sure this has been asked but has anyone replace the mattress? If so can you please share from where?

TIA

I wasn't expecting it when I decided to give it a try, but it literally took seconds to remove the "brass" finish. I used a 3M compound that I normally use to do the boat with and my 3" Milwaukee compound pad.

GSI makes the sound shields custom to your install. Don was great to work with and I made a few changes during the process. It came out wonderful and I wouldn’t hesitate to do this again. Cost was about 1800 all in but it really depends on what options you select.

as far as the mattress, we have a custom v berth mattress made locally out of different layers of foam. Super nice but don’t forget new custom sheets as well!

I have the sound shield that came when the boat was new. It takes up so much space, I can't even get to the starboard aft corner of the hull. I had to take it all apart and off to change the water impeller. That opened up so much space I am thinking of not putting it back on. Coolant recovery tank is mounted to the sound shield. Where is the standard location if there is no sound shield?

Ok guys my buddy locked in a deal on a 2003 46 over in Ft Meyers from Marine Max. I am going to go over there with him on Wednesday for the survey and Sea Trial....

Need your help as I want to hook him up with the LED light conversion kit for that boat. What are the lights I need from Amazon to update that boat complete front to back minus navigation? MY 48 DA crew hooked me up with the Amazon links for my boat I am hoping you guys can pass on th same love.....

Does anyone know the make, model etc of the cockpit sink faucet on a 2003 460da? Mine leaks just a bit and I need replacement parts. Thank you!

Thanks! I assume they have a pattern then for the bed. I will reach out to them.

Yes they do. If I had to do it again I would have had the mattress made with a rake / or wedge on the bottom as on my 460 the bed is lower at the foot of the bed from the head. Drives me crazy to sleep with my feet lower.
