$46-Kicker 10" Marine Subwoofer in Sealed Enclosure

What did you use to cover up the old locker to mount that subwoofer?

Looks like starboard to me.

One of these pods would have handled the arch mount application, without so much clutter. Since they fire fore and aft, it would also cover the need for beach facing speakers in one neat clean unit.

What kind of head unit, are you running? that you can use a key fob remote?

Clarion XMD3. It connects to the standard remote cables, or to the back of the unit, or from a Y, with or without an extension cable. I can get you one for $140 delivered. It includes the Key Fob and the receiver, which is a small box with an antenna. I mounted mine in the transom on a 25' extension cable. We change the stereo from the beach.

Most of the Sony X-plod HU's also come with a standard key fob remote. I just added a
CDXGT-330 and it was only $94 at Best Buy. Specs are a touch better than Clarion, with high and low pass filters and front aux input, the front input is much easier to connect and iPod , mp3, or TV to the unit than the RCA connection on the back of the XMd3,the Sony has alot of features for the money. It sounds great so far, just need to upgrade the speakers to Focal 6.5's and it will be even better.

I have Focals in my vehicles and they sound amazing!

They are THE high end audio for cars and boats. A step up from JL, Wetsounds and MBQuartz. They aren't cheap, but the sound of them is night and day compared to anything else. I hope to add a Focal sub and Amp after I save a few more $'s.

Agreed! I have two separate amps... one drives the sub and one drives the speakers. I can not get the system to distort. The sound is just that clean.

How many pre-outs does that unit have?..........i may be very interested!

The stereo is the standard one for my boat. The Key Fob remote is what I can get for people for $140.

The XMD3 is really out of date, 2004-2005 vintage. As I said earlier, you can replace the HU with a Sony or Pioneer that already has a remote, and front panel aux input for much less than the cost of the remote alone. Unless you are somehow personally attached to the Clarion unit, I would replace it with something newer.

Here is the rear of the Sony, showing connections/pre-outs.

Agree with Kaykook... that unit I believe debuted in 2004. The remote can be found without the LCD for $75 - $80 or with LCD screen for $115 or so. Nothing wrong with the unit, but it's just an older model. There's definitely a ton of units out on the market that are sub $200 that will get the job done.

I just installed these pods last week on my boat and they sound great. Installing sub as soon as i figure where to place it.
