Two. One is a seawater pump that pulls the water up to the engine, and the other is a circulating pump that moves it through the block. The seawater pump has a neoprene impeller that wears out and should be replaced about every 2 to 3 years. The circulating pump does not, but has bearings and shaft seals that will cause it to fail or leak.
 
There should be two of you have an alpha drive 1 in the outdrive leg impeller type and one on the engine circulating type driven by a belt. If bravo drive pump one should be lower starboard on the engine near the front impeller type and the circulating pump
