Hello All,

I'm trying to help a friend with a problem on his boat. It's a '99 450EB with the 3 stateroom layout. He hears a motor noise from the Strb, aft part of the salon. The only way he could turn it off is switching off the batter switch. Then when switched on, it did not come back on. All the usual things have been ruled out <bilge pumps, vaccuflush, compressor for airhorns, etc> Any one have any ideas??

Thanks
Larry

Nope, central vacuum is 120VAC and the battery switches would not affect it.

A radar antenna will make a noise like a motor running if it is left on. When you kill the 12VDC by turning off the battery switches, the radar has to be booted again and go thru its start up for the radome or array to run.

If he has Sat TV, that antenna grinds away up on the arch, but has a ventriloquism affect, and sounds like its coming from the cockpit.

Other than that, there isn't in that part of the salon to make any noise, other than the a/c under the floor, but that's 120 also.

Lol.... funny about the sat antenna ... Delivery day i was like wtf...

Also my cockpit frig vibrates really bad.. the face flange holds all the weight . I cant figure out how to stop the noise. The more i take it in and out the more i scratch the glass.... So i surrendered..

It took me and the delivery Captain (OK - the Captain - I had no idea what the hell that was) a good 10 or 15 minutes to track that down.

Weird.
