I'm thinking about upgradeing to a 44 Sundancer from a gas 2004 Sundancer and would like some advice and insight from 44 dancer owners that have made the move from a 390/40 dancer. I would like to know if you really get more space in the stateroom and cabin from the smaller boat. Does the bigger boat run and handle better?

Sorry this isn't exactly the scenario you outlined but I thought I'd give you my thoughts having come from a 2005 gas 390 DA. I looked very closely at a 44 diesel and it was a good deal but I ended up going instead with a 48 (diesel of course). No doubt the 44 is a lot more boat than the 390, it gives you some extra beam, more weight and a second head (plus just a little more space everywhere). That said, the 48 is a *lot* more, in my view of it the 44 is just a slightly larger 390/40 with a second head, the 48 really is a big step up. I feel like if I had bought a 44 I would have immediately still wanted a 48, now with the 48 I'm happy (after 3 boats in 3 years I can finally say I have no interest in a different or larger boat). If you're thinking about a new 44 for example, I'd suggest look at a 2005/2006 48 instead. Just my 0.02. Of course, everything also costs a little more on the 48 so there are always cons. Good luck!

Regards,
Jason

Thanks that is very helpful. I have been questioning if the move to a 44 would be the right step or if I should bite the big one a move to a 48. Not sure it will fit in my condo slip though.

As jason said if at all possible try a 48. Been in a 44 for 3.5 years and need a 48!!!!

LOL ( so my Brain says )
