I recently purchased a 2006 44 Sundancer with a hard top and TNT lift. I have noticed this boat is noisier than our diesel 40 when running at cruise. This boat has cummins 500's. I would like to hear from anyone with this boat and any suggestions such as engine room insulation etc. I have speculated that maybe the extended platform has changed the dynamics of the exaust and it is bouncing of the hard top.
    Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the hardtop owners club!

You can't do it now, but at one point hardtops were an option and you could run both soft top and hard top versions of the same boat. The reflected noise on hardtops is noticably more than a canvas top boat. Unfortunately, this is a fact of life and is something you will have to learn to live with.

One thing to check, however, is the sealing gaskets on the engine hatch. If they have slipped or moved to where the hatch doesn't completely seal, a lot of noise escapes.

I thought so. I've even noticed a difference with canvas tops between canvas on and off. So how much worse is it really? What about hardtop only boats, like the 48DA?

    Best regards,
