This will probably seem like overkill to many, but this year we added a Revere Coastal Commander (purchased from Jim and BOE Marine) six person emergency raft to the 420DA safety kit. The valise fits next to the helm seat, and the raft has a canopy, onboard emergency kit, and requires re-packing every three years.

We also have a ditch bag, which I posted about last year. No change to the ditch bag packing list.

I doubt we will range outside the Chesapeake Bay this season, but if something goes very wrong (eg: hit a log and tear the rudders out of the boat, or tear a prop shaft out) it is comforting to know that we can deploy the raft and get the kids (and the Golden Retriever) to safety.

We have also gone to the auto-inflating PFDs for my wife and I--much more comfortable for long trips.

Sounds good, I looked at some of the Revere raft products this past weekend.

Do you have a link to your ditch bag post?

All sounds good to me and this is an item you may have, bu tin all of the post in that thread no mention of a hand held mirror device for signaling was mentioned. I am sure you have this item included.
