    Hi Guys-

My boat is missing two latches from the aft master stateroom kickout window. My parts manual shows the window as (853143) but doesn't give a part number for the latches. Can anyone help me out here?
    Thanks,
    Brandon

    Here are pics...

Taylor Made made the window but says they are not their handles. Sea Ray cant figure it out either.

There is a discussion of this issue earlier in this thread. The consensus is that the screen can't be removed, but there are lots of suggestions on the best ways to clean the drain line.

    Hi folks,

I can't seem to get my aft cabin kick out window to stop leaking. Does anyone have the same problem and have you found a good fix?

I have the 380 but the window is the same. I also have that problem. Prior owner caulked the outer edge to solve the problem but I remove the window for ventilation when on the hook so the caulk had to go. So it leaks but only when the rain blows hard against the stern. If I were to approach a fix, I'd look for good rubber weather striping and re-line the seal. If you find a solution, please let us know.

We have same on 390MY. No leaks. We have friends who have hinged theirs. We are considering converting ours and screening it. Has anyone done the same? if yes where did you buy the hardware?

Has anyone figured out how to remove the cabin door? It looks like I may have to replace the fridge and even using that Alabama math I learnt, 24" won't fit in a 21" hole.

Didn't remove the door on our boat as I've replaced both frig & freezer at different times. The front of them are wider than the depth if I recall and I put duct tape over the screw heads on the back to keep from ripping the through fabric and scratching the door. Title fit but they both went through. Now the wrinkle master is a lot tougher when ya get to that machine!

Taylor Made told me over the phone they do not recognize the handles even though they are stamped "Taylor Made". They also said since it is a Sea Ray they cannot even research it and I must call a dealer. My local Sea Ray dealer said the parts are no longer available. Three of mine are broken and I would really like an alternative latch but the other Taylor Made Ultra latch I tried did not work.

So I'm starting do do research on my next boat which will most likely be a 420 ac and then something like this shows up on a SROC thread...

    upload_2018-8-27_8-38-1.png
Well that kinda dampens the enthusiasm!

    So here come the questions...

Certainly a survey would catch this but is there any way to check for this issue myself before I pay out for the surveyor?
If so, can it be done without lifting the boat?

Was this systemic - did all SR boats of this vintage have this issue?
Any other info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Mike

Looks like a old thread....looked at a 420AC w 430hp Cummins. Needs lots of work on soft goods but FG looks good. So all of these have cored hulls? Eng Rm is real tight. Water pump on port engine looks like it need to be done with mirrors and you can only get to if from the front thru a 12" x 24" hatch under the salon table. Is there somewhere to store the salon table? I noticed a vacuflush pump to the starboard side of the aft cabin bed. How does one get to it? Does this boat have two black tanks or just one?

Back to cored hulls....what fails to get water in the coring?
Anything else to check out prior to survey?
    Thanks,
    Ed

James from my marina (you've met) has had his '99 420AC since 2005. He has done it all and on this boat and is a good guy to talk to, but he doesn't frequent this site. I can put you in touch if you'd like.

If its a freshwater boat - get the owner history and verify Marine Max or Skipper Bud didn't move the boat from salt water to fresh sometime... No need to pay the fresh water upcharge if its a salty. You can visually see salty's from the tell tale green around all the through hulls, wire connectors, etc. First place I look is the bilges and ER - that tells you 90% of the story on maintenance. Second, get the name of the mechanic and shop that services the boat and get the complete history of repairs. Talk to them! If there isn't much history or the owner says "he DIY'd it", time to walk. Every boat has service needs. Once your surveyor arrives on scene, have him moisture meter the hull under the water tank (in addition to the rest of the hull, stanchions, swim platform. Might be a common wet area. Every old boat is going to have some water in the hull - you just need to understand how much. I loved my 420DA. Great Boat. If it has a mechanical swim platform - double check those penetrations. And definitely haul the boat. That will be the cheapest $300 you spend to uncover a delamination/ stringer issue. Have fun!

Its a salt water boat....maintained by yard. Owner is very hands off and pays for all maint on boat. 650 hrs on engines...20-40 hrs use per year. Used mostly as a floating condo. Eng room and engines are clean. No oil leaks or rust. Not clean to my level but not bad.

Have an accepted offer on the 420AC... Survey is next. Would like to get past the hull survey first to confirm its not a water logged hull. Reportedly had a barrier coat put on 5 years ago. All the systems work on the boat (gen, AC, refrig units). Need to find a local surveyor in Freeport NY (LI) and Cummins engine surveyor.

Since your concerned with the bottom, I'd start with the haul out portion of the survey and have your surveyor start with the hull, then move to the sea trail and while in water systems. If its soaked - your surveyor should find it and you can cancel him at that point. Given the time of the year - hopefully its on the hard already.
