420AC Thread

Has anyone with 42 AC replaced their shifter cables and throttle cables? If so, any details would be greatly appreciated and if you had someone do it what kind of cost can I expect? . Looking at a winter project. Thanks in advance.

Its a self stick application....remove the backing and place down the floor. Easier than I thought and looks so nice vs my carpet.
Do you know if that template will work for a 1997 420 AC?

Ask them to print out a template and check it out....you can fix my mistake at the captains chairs (I have two) and they were slightly off center. I used the cut out piece and trimmed it so you don't notice it. you can also call SR and ask if any changes were made between 17 and 2000.

Thx. Good advice not quite ready to get it done right now but planning is always a good idea. BTW originally from Marlton, NJ. Must admit I have really bee spoiled with 12months of boating down here. But that is also 12 months of maintenance.

Looks awesome....what kind of material is that? I have a hatch under my table to access the port side which would look unsightly. The hatch for the cabin AC and hatch in front of the stbd eng looks great. Is it much noiser without the carpet?

We did a three hour run without carpeting. Very little difference. Low noise, low heat on floor. We are trying this material as a experiment. Bought from E-Bay. 6mm Eva Foam Teak. Has a adhesive backing. Easy to cut with sharp knife or scissors. Like the look but what we do not know is how well it will stay clean. And what to clean it with . I fasten down over hatches then cut out with sharp knife.

Does anyone have any pictures of engine compartment with the floors up. Was looking at this model but was wondering how much engine access there is Thanks Rich

I have this model and can honestly say it gets pretty tight working on either outboard side of the engines. It can be done but not for old folks for sure.

Its a boat....its always tight unless you have a 50 footer. If you are overweight, this is not the boat for you unless you have skinny friends. I have Cummins in mine and I can get around it. Port side is the challenge...aftercooler removal is challenge but doable. Replacing the pump impeller is impossible (for me) unless you pull the pump. My biggest complaint is the port raw water pump.

We added the EVA foam from Amazon on the swim deck to keep the dog from falling into the lake. Was going to be temporary. It has been great for the past year or so. Does get dirty easy, wash with dawn and water, and it cleans up quickly. Not sure how clean-up would be in the cabin.

Need to replace the ventilation blower motor in the forward head & shower on our 1996. Vent is behind the toilet bowl. Does anyone know where the motor is? I have purchased a 3" replacement motor. Thanks for any guidance on where to look.

Did you ever find where this blower is located? I have the exact issue and can't find it.

It’s behind a panel inside the flip up cupboard above the head. Quite tricky to get at but doable. Small hands required.

I'm looking at buying a 97 420AC with the 7.4 gassers. Owner claims he can't get the boat over 17mph. Does this sound normal? Any insights into what the gas models are going for?

Does anyone know what cutlass bearing is used on the 420 AC with 3126 CATS? Looks like 1.75” shaft
