While cleaning out the boat of PO stuff, I found an engine comparison for our boat. Cat 3116 was the most efficient and hit .9mpg but was a little slower than the Cummins. The gasser was .5mpg. I'll see if I can scan it and up load it.

Ed, I just now noticed you got a new boat. Congratulations! I was on a 420AC in Key Largo about 2 years ago. The wife loved it. Felt like a really good boat. GOD bless. JC

Just bought it in Dec....amazing amount of room and runs the same speeds as my 400DA. Not quite the same range but not too shabby. Would be nice to take it to Fl and Bahamas!
    Are you boatless now?

We had a 2001 420AC with Cat 3126TA which are great engines as we had the boat a few months shy of Ten years. We did the AGLCA’s Great Loop 2015-16 on her and couldn’t have chosen a better boat for us to do the Loop on. Spent the winter of 2015 in Key West on her and just got back this winter in early April.

Enjoy your boat as they are a great boat with very good space. The wife would trade even for her again if she had her way. The older you get the more you appreciate the full walk around AC.

I just want to thank everyone on CSR for their knowledge and help. I just recently signed up because there is a feature on my boat I CANNOT figure out. Its a 2000 370/380AC with 3116's and very will optioned. Oil changer, washer drier, bow thruster, central vac, etc.. The engines were replaced sometime prior to my purchase in 07/2018 and were showing 80 hours on the mains and 800ish on the genny. The boat spent its life up by NYC (Surfside 3?) and now is in Tennessee. The P.O. passed away and the bank repossessed it I think. I picked it up for a song because of the lack of history with it. It had zero receipts or any past maintenance proof. After spending the last year fixing everything that was inop I am down to one switch. When you walk down the stairs to enter the salon there is a switch panel above the main breaker door on the right. Left to right is bilge lights, salon lights, and the far right is labeled "cockpit". Some one please tell me what this switch does! I have been all through this boat fixing things that were neglected and I cannot figure this one out. Thanks and I apologize if this is the wrong venue but it driving me NUTS!

The cockpit switch in question can independently control the aft sitting area lights. It works with the other 3 switches located on either side above the outside walkway doors and the swim platform entry way top switch. I believe mine has a bad switch or two because it doesn't work as advertised. I am looking over the schematic and will trouble shoot when I get back to the marina. Thanks again everyone.

There is a controller for these lights that is by the upper level garbage can. Check that you have power there before taking anything else apart.

Does anyone have a dingy davit attached to the swim platform? I assume you have to cut out an access opening in the swim platform hatch to provide a solid mount. Is the platform solid glass or cored?

Thanks for the info regarding the controller. Every time I have gone to the marina with multi meter in hand to trouble shoot, after about 5 minutes someone replaces the meter with rum. Then nothing gets done. I am fairly certain the extended swim platform on mine is cored because the ladder cover was gone when I purchased the boat and I had to repair the fiberglass that it screws to because of water rotting out the wood core. Turns out as you slow down the wave washes up on the platform and flings the door open. Hence the missing door when I bought it.

I am pretty sure your wall is the same as mine as I also will be watching the replies on this one. One thing you might want to consider before you do this. Without the TV on the wall it is already a little tight just to get through this area so I would make sure your bracket that you choose is a very slim fit. I was on another model like ours and the TV on the wall stuck out to the point the owner removed it after several body collisions. The best solution I have seen so far is to remount a flat screen in the existing cabinet that pulls out and adjusts to different angles. Just an FYI for you.

I would run the power from the salon TV area and run under the seats to the stairs. Under my stairs is the TV power and cable run for my aft state room TV.

For one of my winter projects, I plan to replace both the aft and forward TV's (original). Already did the salon. Looking at how to mount new flat screens and what size, model and make TV's work to fill the openings. I know some of 42AC owners have been there and done this. I would greatly appreciate any advice, information from anyone before tackling this project. Never cared for re-inventing the wheel when it already has been done. Thanks much in advance

Figured I would ask in this thread because our boats are similar. Ihave a 2000 380AC and installing a new vhf (old Ray 218 is starting to fail) ICOM 424g. I would like to have the remote mike in the salon, the radio is mounted on the starboard side of the bridge. Is there an easy way to run the line for the remote from bridge to the salon. 17-19.jpg
