420 DA Thread

Engines are 6cta 450, and I’m trying to compare speed numbers.
2100/18.8
2150/19.2
2200/20.5
2300/22
2400/22.5
2500/
2600/26

Are you using GPS for speed?....We are close you are maybe 1.5/2 kts slower at 2200rpm than I am. I get right around 2650 rpm top end

Guys, just bought 2005 420 DA, and this thread is gold!
Engines are 6cta 450, and I’m trying to compare speed numbers. She gets up a little over 2600 rpm. Here are my numbers. Felt a tad slow but wanted to compare and get feedback:

Rpm/kts

700/6
750/6.3
800/4.9
1000/7.5
1200/8.2
1400/
1600/9.4
1800/14.5
1900/16.4
2000/17.5
2100/18.8
2150/19.2
2200/20.5
2300/22
2400/22.5
2500/
2600/26

Engines are mech, so no fuel burn numbers other than Cummins curve from sbmar.

Comments welcome, thanks!
Congratulations. I just got one as well, an '05. Good luck with it.

Welcome. You picked a great boat! I have a 2004 with the same, mechanical engines. I can tell you that at 2200 rpm cruise speed, I am getting between 24-26 mph or 20.9-22.6 knts.

rmclok, I have the same boat as you, 2005 with the 450s. Your numbers are right there with mine. As far as fuel burn, we are burning about 22.5 gph at 2100 rpm. Like you, I have no floscans, that's just holding a steady cruise and comparing run time to how many gallons it took to top her off.
I have also noticed that at 2100 rpm the boat will run about 1mph faster with the bow trimmed all the way down.
Enjoy your new boat!

Well we performed the renaming ceremony and here is our baby with her new name..

Hopefully we're all talking about the same trim piece. If my boat wasn't wrapped up for winter I'd be sending a pic. In any case I'm needing to replace the "foam stripping" which covers the screws all along where the front windshield meets the deck. It seems to sit in a track of its own and is significantly "gapped". I'm hoping that once replaced along with caulking and tightening all screws I can stop the river of water I get that runs on the inside of the windshield base and eventually runs to the port sink area and then onto the floor during heavy rain!

I assume 8349030 was the correct Part number. Do you recall how many feet you needed and did it stop the river of water???

i was going to order some as well. i measured 80" for each side, so was going to order 14' to do ONLY the two front sections on either side of the vent.

if you've got water coming in behind the windshield, it's likely due to the vent gasket, not the trim.

i just ordered that, too.

Did you order this part number 8349040?
The sides seem a bit more complicated with the miter cut and glueing

Toby - Thanks for confirming 80". Also, who did you order the vent gasket from? I think I need that also. Will it be a complete replacement for the vent gasket?
