420 DA Thread

Not sure the brands but the one in the cockpit is an RV mount that will not move. The other two in the bedrooms are regular adjustable TV mounts but I put industrial grade Velcro on the back of the TVs to the wood and they do not move nor will they :)

Also the one in the master does just slide up if there are bad seas if I do chose it not to take a pounding ;)

Looks like he mounted it above the microwave.

Yes the 2004 comes with it above the microwave. It does not have the flip down. I just used a flate wall mount on that one.

What were the TV's in each location? They look great!

Axess 24-Inch 1080p Digital LED Full HDTV, Includes AC/DC TV, DVD Player, HDMI/SD/USB Inputs, TVD1801-24

The are 12 volt or 120 which I wanted for the kids room and cockpit.

Also took the generator panel off and made it the back of a shelf to hold more beer ;) lots of wasted space behind it.

I have not but would also like to hear about this. The drip pan beneath my salon ac is rusted and needs replaced. I didn't look that difficult to disconnect and remove... given it fits through the opening.

We bought our 2004 420 in August 2016. The pan was rusted. One thing you learn after a survey is that things like A/C's can be charged and perform well over the course of a few hours for the survey. The first week we had the boat, we bought a new A/C unit. From the triangle "bin" that you can lift out, our mechanic had to cut a bit of the wood supporting the "bin". It only took about a 1" inch deep and about 6" long piece out of the 3 sides. I went back in with the "new" model.....I only wished I had put in a bit larger (higher Btu) unit. No biggie.

If my description isn't that good, I'm going to the boat tomorrow and I can take a picture for you.

Has anyone replaced the cockpit refrigerator? Mine has finally died and rusted. It was the norcold de0051 model. Norcold says the nr751 is a direct replacement, but I disagree as there are some plumbing and wires in the back of the case that will get in the way.

Anyone have luck replacing the refrigerator?

Thanks,

Matt

I know Sea Ray had some issues in 2007-2008 with the sanitation hoses cracking and having to be replaced. Is it confirmed that this issue is limited to those years only? Is there any chance that the same issue existed in 2005 on the 420 models? I ask because a friend who owns a 2007 520SD had to replace his hoses and states categorically that if you have black sanitation hoses (I do) and not white then you definitely have bad hoses.

Thoughts? Any online information you can link me to so I get more info or put my brain at ease?

I just replaced all sanitation hoses (black) on my 2005. They were cracked where they bend to go into the tank. If yours are not cracked and don't stink leave them it is a terrible job.

Did you do it yourself? How many hours did it take you? Did you have to pull any furniture out in the salon?

New member. Just bought a 2003, 420 DA. My refrigerator will only operator on DC. Any suggestion on how to get it to work on AC. ? (It is plugged in, but has no power and the switch is on). Thanks

The black hoses are fine. It seems like Sea Ray may have had a bad batch in 2006-2007 time frame. I replaced mine last year with new black Trident hoses.

Other than the fact the job is disgusting the hardest part was replacing the hose from the aft head to the holding tank. The new hose is thicker walled than the old so I had to ream out the hole in the bulkead and apply some epoxy to raw plywood bulkhead.

On my boat there was a junction in one of the seat lockers between the head and engine room bulkhead so I replaced from there back.

For the forward head the hose from the head to pump looks "okay", but I did replace the hose from the pump to the tank as that was really bad.

All told, I would say those two sections took about 6-8 hours by myself. If I had a helper it would have been half that.

The section between the forward head and pump will be a total ******, there is just no where to get your body to access the bulkhead hole to ream it out or re-seal the new hose. When I am ready for that replacement I will happily write a check!
