We have success, Drain was zip tied to the frame and also is too short anyways. Had to pull the refrigerator out which does have a remote compressor. Next challenge is to see if I can get it repaired, or replaced with a new unit. Any suggestions on the brand and model for replacement?
Any suggestions for a repair shop in Southeast Michigan?

I have the same freezer with the drain on my 360. It was running but not getting cold so I was able to have a local marine AC/refrigeration shop add a port and refill with Freon for less than $200 and it’s been working well for the past 2 seasons. I also replaced and extended the hose to the drain when I reinstalled.

I am having a bow thruster installed by the shipyard this December. I am sure they know where it goes, but for my planning can any tell me (or have pictures of) where the tube and thruster unit are mounted in a 420/44? I am guessing its under the floor hatch aft of the bed in the v-berth. Someone else told me they think it’s under the AC unit under the bed in the v-berth.

I’m sure the yard knows and will do the right thing. I just need to know how much “stuff” that I have stowed i need to move beforehand and find a new location for.

Thanks as always for the help….

You are correct that it's in the bilge area between the head and shower doors.

In mine, it was almost directly in line with the shower window.

Thanks for that! Super helpful! Looks like it takes over half that storage up, though. Oh well…

Totally worth it, trust me! And I would not store stuff in there like the my previous owner did in the picture. I feel they need to breath.

Exactly my set up as well....

Mine is the same too.

Speaking of thrusters..... this is my first boat with a thruster and would like to know, when in use and the thruster cuts out, does it do so because its overheating, or because the batteries don't have enough power left in them?

Could be the lack of current from bad batteries won't keep the solenoid closed. I heard that's a big reason for them going bad. I would make sure your batteries are in good shape and charged up. New batteries will be less cost than a new thruster motor.

I was thinking the same. The prior owner changed the five other batteries to AGM's, along with their chargers at the beginning of this season, but the two thruster batteries are older flooded units. Just found another thing to add to the off season to do list. Anybody using AGM batteries for their thruster?

I had AGM's on my 07 44DA for the thrusters. I also changed out the battery chargers as my first set of thruster batteries only lasted three years, I think the old charger cooked them.

If the batteries are weak the voltage drop will be bad enough the motor wont run. The motor also has a two timers on it, one will limit how long it runs in a single burst to prevent overheating, and the second to create a delay between bursts, so you don't jam from one direction to the other in one motion. I don't recall how long either is but its in the manual.

The easiest test is to put a voltage meter on the thruster batteries and have someone bump it when the batteries are fully charged but the charger is off. If the voltage drops below 24volts the batteries are toast.

If the batteries are "ok" and its tripping out, time how long it takes between trips and call Vetus customer service. Their service department is FANTASTIC. I have called them on my 44DA the first time I had issues (turned out to be bad batteries) and also on my 58DB that has an issue with the stern thruster. They will walk you through troubleshooting steps with the easiest/cheapest things first, and gradually work up to the more expensive/harder to fix bits.

Great info, thnx!

My cockpit refridge quit cooling, it would try but not much better than nothing at all. I pulled it out and a refridge repair guy put in a charging port and topped it off. He said it was within acceptable range and should have worked. While it was out we plugged it in and it did cool. We noticed the fan never ran.

I got a new fan and put on but it never runs either. That's with the refridge sitting out, not installed. No doubt when it's installed it's much warmer in there and harder to dissipate heat. How is the fan supposed to run? Does it run continuous or on/off maybe with the compressor?

I should know this I guess but never paid any attention to it when it was working, so I'm not sure.

It looks like I will have to investigate this thoroughly to find out why the pump is cycling. I did check the faucets including the anchor wash down faucet and swim platform shower. I will report back when I have found the source. Thanks for the info.
Did you ever track down why your fresh water pump was cycling?
