420 DA Thread

When we use the boat the aft canvas is always off, lots of on/offs. Last year I had new aft canvas made and eliminated the window, I got tired of babying that thing, made folding the canvas up, bagging it, and day storage even easier. I got it down pat, when people offer to help I tell them no, they think there's something wrong with me for turning them down I know. But there's an order to things, any help almost always makes it harder than it needs to be.

One time I even put the slant back up while on plane. We were at the end of a long day, trying to get back to home port with as little night running as possible. With about 25 miles to go we hit a weather front. It got dark and colder than heck instantly. The wind and rain was getting us wet in the cockpit so I told my wife to drive, I would put up the canvas. She wanted to stop and I said no. I didn't want to waste a minute, there was some nasty shit coming, the sooner we're off the lake the better. The lake was starting to kick up, that and wind made it a lot harder, took me about twice as long.

I don't know if I'd do that again but it depends. For sure anyone that has to stand on coolers or seats to do it shouldn't, they're going to fall, maybe end up in the water.
+1 on the help... it’s funny sometimes guests will offer to put up the aft canvas... I say sure go for it... they always regret it :)...funny how 3 pieces can really trip some people up
I had a cover made for the aft slant window...that cover rarely comes off unless it’s day time and raining and I just want more light in

@Blueone - funny you should mention that. I have devised a system with guests where I position the canvas and just start the zippers ever so slightly then move on to the next piece. The guest is then able to then figure out the remaining zip and snaps. If I don’t do that then the guest struggles for five minutes trying to figure out what goes where.

Replacing the Florescent light above gally 1736258 LIGHT, FLUOR THINLITE SGL 18WATT (12V). Has anyone done this w/ LED's prior? Our diffuser panel has yellowed and I think a rope light with new diffuser panel would bring back the intended look. It too is on my ( Growing ) list. Mike

I replaced both the diffuser and the rope lighting. Diffuser just bought a piece and cut it with a jig saw...I used led tape to replace the rope in there and under the bed. I left the Florescent

I have not discovered the under bed light? Perhaps we are burned out. The light I mean...

Blueone, Thank You! I now see on parts list too. Just another thing to add to list! Tonight will be putting the Mohu antenna in an empty dome on Hard top. Then onto polishing out scratches on front polycarbonate windows. They are scratched from the transport. Then to water the batteries.... might be another late one tonight.

Here are the people that made the engine room actuators for SR for many years and likely still do. They may also make the OEM vent window actuator....

Making progress. With help of our broker Philippe Hevesy, (Maritime in Port Washington) tonight we mounted two small domes. One is loaded with a MOHU antenna. The other is a dummy. Next on the top is Kahlenberg K-380 air horns. The tank and compressor will go in the bilge. Good / bad what is your opinion?

44 Dancer Diesel newbie question. The dash panel has a switch "Cruise 1 off Cruise 2" I've no clue as to its function. Some one much smarter than I please advise.

I had to buy another crx-65 last month because the last one only lasted a few years but I love that it's a perfect match for the original.

Hey COP
how was the install - assuming this is the "freezer" one and the full fridge? My "freezer" is spotty at best - basically use it as an ice cooler.
thanks
