My back locker, under the rear (sternmost) cockpit seat, is a wet moldy mess. Rainwater gets in there and it never seems to dry out. Does everyone else have the same problem? I could install the camper top every time I leave the boat but that is quite a pain. I keep floats and fenders back there and they are always covered in mold, wet and slimy. Any help would be appreciated!

I have never had that problem...under that seat is where I store my aft curtain. I have this plastic flooring in there which gives a bit of air flow...also near the aft entry door there is a drain on the floor into the aft locker...water in the cockpit should flow right thru the aft seat and locker and out the swim platform.... just take a closer look for the path

I had to buy another crx-65 last month because the last one only lasted a few years but I love that it's a perfect match for the original.

'Single Hook Two Claws Puller Separate Lifting Device'

Found, ordered and received this contraption to help in removing my Sherwood Pump impellers which I'm told can be a PITA. Seemed too good and too cheap to be real, but it's actually both hefty and the right size when matched up against my new SBMAR replacements I bought.

$30 !!! Others pullers I've seen have been well over $100.

You will have to show us how that works... because I don’t see it.

All you need is a bolt that fits the threads on the impeller. I got one at my local Fastenal. Cost maybe $5. To really make things simple, you could buy one of those rachet wrenches that looks like a regular closed-end wrench.

Question to all 44DA owners.
This Monday I am looking at two boats. An 06 with pewter and an 07 with white hull. Both are 44s with the same engines and similar price. 06 has about 500 hours (maybe 550), the 07 has under 500. Obviously the 07 sounds like a better deal for being newer and less hours but I was wondering if there are any differences between the two years. I was planning on having the 06 inspected, but this 07 came in today. I’ll have them both checked out. Thoughts?

Blueone, I have the same flooring in mine and it appears that my drains are not clogged, I see water flow when I spray the cockpit down. But I will empty it out tomorrow and look closer. Thanks.

I can see no reason to continue to consider the 06. The differences between the 2 are so minor and the resale of white over pewter are significant (I happen to like the pewter hull boats). Add even more to the resale value for being a year newer.

To me if they are both equal in condition and major options are there same it's a no-brainer.

See I would want the white hull.... I guess you want what you don’t have. The colored hulls are just too much work

I always thought the blue and black hull boats were the prettiest but I really didn't want the upkeep. I selected my boat from another state over a local black boat for that reason. But, man, if you keep up the finish those colored boats really show off the Sea Ray's beautiful sheer line.

Just a side note... I remove my flag pole when not on the boat and you would be surprised the amount of rain water that hole let’s in.... just so happen one week I left my bucket under the hole and it had a lot of water in it.... I then started leaving the bucket under it all the time.... just typing this dawned on me maybe go find a plug

You should do some research or maybe someone here will jump in. There are some SR Pewter colored hulls that have had issues. I have seen it said here before that 10% or more had blistering issues. You would think all of this would have shown its face by now, but I would still find out what I could.

No doubt the colored hulls are beautiful, but as Blueone says, the maintenance and upkeep is too much. You will never see a small scratch in a white hull, but in a colored hull, it will look like a gapping gap....we went from pewter to white and love it. Wife wanted some color, so had a big black stripe applied to mimic the Monaco look.

I don't have any mold/slime problems under that seat or the aft storage locker either. Maybe the cockpit uncovered is getting frequent enough rains and cockpit spray downs that the space is always wet/damp.

I can see not wanting to put up/take down a camper back each time but how about a slant back canvas. The slant back is all I have. About 5mins to put on and my boat cockpit stays clean and dry when I'm gone. I've never had to spray my cockpit down to clean it. A mix of sweep, vacuum, wipe as needed keeps it clean.

@Woody - I have the slant too and agree it’s fast on and off.
When we use the boat the aft canvas is always off, lots of on/offs. Last year I had new aft canvas made and eliminated the window, I got tired of babying that thing, made folding the canvas up, bagging it, and day storage even easier. I got it down pat, when people offer to help I tell them no, they think there's something wrong with me for turning them down I know. But there's an order to things, any help almost always makes it harder than it needs to be.

One time I even put the slant back up while on plane. We were at the end of a long day, trying to get back to home port with as little night running as possible. With about 25 miles to go we hit a weather front. It got dark and colder than heck instantly. The wind and rain was getting us wet in the cockpit so I told my wife to drive, I would put up the canvas. She wanted to stop and I said no. I didn't want to waste a minute, there was some nasty shit coming, the sooner we're off the lake the better. The lake was starting to kick up, that and wind made it a lot harder, took me about twice as long.

I don't know if I'd do that again but it depends. For sure anyone that has to stand on coolers or seats to do it shouldn't, they're going to fall, maybe end up in the water.
