420 DA Thread

My engine breakers are located on the 12 volt side of the electric panel near the ignition keys.
Yes, no problem leaving the batteries on, but you may want to leave the AC Converter on at the same time so your batteries don’t get run down if something draws on them while your away without you knowing about it.

If you leave your batteries on, keys turned on and ignition breakers on when you’re not there then someone can start your motors by simply pressing the switches at the helm.
Turning the breakers and/or keys off on your panel will keep the engines from being started at the helm.

Yes I do turn the keys off when we leave. I have a "closing" protocol but it does not include killing the breakers????
thanks

I have placed little red sticker dots next to each switch I leave on when I leave the boat. I turn the keys off, leave the breakers on and check that all red-dot switches are on and non-dot are off. Takes a few seconds and requires very little thinking, which suits me perfectly.

Did someone on this thread swap out an interior electric outlet for a usb outlet that matched perfectly?

I think it was this thread, and I tried the search but no luck.

Thanks,

Matt

Just curious- when you guys leave your boats, do you shut off the battery solenoids? I think I read in the manual you should, but never did with my last boat...

The battery Solenoids only shut off non-critical loads so I always turn them off. If your battery charger dies or you loose shore power there are tons of small draw items that can and will kill your batteries over time.

Either way is fine, but as mentioned I always make sure the engine key is switched off.

They are made by Vimar. I had them installed last year. Perfect match. My tech got them but I don't know where he sourced them

Does anyone have the color and source for the caulk/sealant used in the bathroom walls and also the top area of the dash? I think Color-Rite is the source but I have search
ed the forums for an hour and can't find it. Thanks in advance.

The caulk for the dash...it doesn’t look original. Mine was and I used acetone and a paper towel and it cleaned right up.
Tile shops have a good selection of colored caulk in stock... or a lot of online places

Many thanks. I knew acetone would remove. I’ll check the tile shops in the area...when they open to the public.

Made the 60 mile trip home yesterday morning! All the things I read in this thread were spot on- the boat handled rough seas like a dream. It got pretty sketchy as I passed Point Judith but at no time did I feel like I was losing control of the boat. So happy I decided on an express boat instead of another bridge boat!
It was 29 degrees when we cast off lines so that aspect of the trip wasn’t so great.

Do you have other pics of boat in that slip? I'm trying to figure out how its tied up?

Funny, I thought the exact same thing but decided not to ask. I figured there has to be a piling unseen on the Starboard side? Or maybe full-on Med. style with a dropped anchor and backed in.

Looks like he has a starboard tie to a finger pier.

I guess that pic is a little controversial
LOL! Yes it’s tied to a finger pier on the starboard side
