Any recommendations for someone in the Sturgeon Bay/Door County WI area that does good custom canvas work? We need to replace our original and would like to consider having a custom canvas made.

Anyone care to share photos of their custom work done that they absolutely love?

while not a cockpit enclosure, I had a custom bow cover made. LOVE IT!

I am going through the same thing in replacing ours. Right now I am having the front above the windshield done in polycarbonate.

Over the winter we will do around the cockpit area. I was looking for more of a camper top to allow better use of the u shaped lounge. I also want screens to have some airflow at night and slow down the bugs. The pic below I found on the Internet. I would like a small Bimini off the hardtop to allow a more vertical aft curtain. Instead of clear panels, I would do something similar to what you can see in the next boat where they have screens and isenglass behind. I would want the canvas framing the window a bit smaller. I would also only have 3 panels around the back instead of the multiple clear panels.

I talked to my local canvas guy and he didn't have any issues with it

From the picture it looks like he may have the multiple piece side panels to allow for unzipping an opening to get on and off the boat without remove or unzipping a large single panel each time.

BTW, that camper canvas was very well done and looks like it could've come from the factory like that.

I'd like to see that bow cover as well.

I'll try to hunt down some pics but basically had it made to cover from the base of the windshield to the frontmost part of the bow including anchor and light. Velcro's around every stanchion tube with high strength velcro and then 5 @ 10 pound sand bags that clip onto the cover. Made of sunbrella that is the same color as my enclosure

Here you go. Cost was $1600

Docjason, Two questions for you: First, does your canvas guy still have the "pattern" for that bow cover and would he be interested in making another? Secondly, I'm assuming a 2006 Sea Ray 44 is the same as a 2004 Sea Ray 420, can you or anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance,

Jaybeaux

Hey guys here are a few pics of a bow cover on a 340 for more reference and a well done 40 enclosure with cantilevered frame:

Great looking workmanship. Are there any issues with trapped moisture with the cover laying directly on the bow?

Quint, that is a very good looking aft enclosure on the 40 Sundancer. Can you tell me what the windows are made of ?... They look rigid at the corners like it is polycarbonate or something

The bow cover is Sunbrella so it breathes (I made that one).

The aft enclosure was done by my friend Russ from Northcoast Marine Canvas in Port, Clinton Ohio. The isenglass is 40g Strataglass.
