410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Great, Thanks guys! At least I will be warm in the cabin than in the ER trying to contort myself.

If you go into the engine room, and look at the tank, you can mark were the sender is and estimate about were the opening is. On mine, aft cabin, cabinet on starboard side.

Just curious, are you replacing with standard sender or something more "exotic" say a Maretron TLM100? The next time I have to dig into either one, they get installed.

David, I am hoping that I don't need to replace it at all. I ran a nmea 2000 cable and sub wiring up to the dash and I think I might have knocked one of the wires loose when I fished them up there. I am sure it is going to be more than that but here's to wishful thinking. Do you know what the standard sender model is?

I dont know what was standard, my port sender was not working, and the PO had one from Marine Max. I installed it this fall. I think it was just a basic universal sender. It has a long metal stick that you can set at the correct height. I think the marine store at Port Royale has one on the shelf. You need one that will work for the depth of your tank, and I cant remember the depth of mine right off the top of my head.

Looks like this...

Here is the problem though. My 410 has Cat diesels and rides bow high. It’s meant to ride that way and performance suffers when I go full tabs down. I mess with the tabs until my speed is optimized. I would rather be efficient and sit on a pillow to see than ride level and plow.

I have a 400 and my port fuel gauge doesn't work, so it may be the tank sending unit. Have no idea where the tank is (other than on the port side). How did you get to yours?

There is a door on the front port side...very front, in front of the icemaker/fridge area see pic below. In the back floor is a 4" dia hole, and if you look deep down in there, the sender is there. The senders have a standard 5 bolt pattern, you can only install the sender the correct way.

Hi, if anyone is looking to sell a late 90’s early 2000’s 40 Sundancer or 410, I am in the market. If you know someone or have one your looking to sell please give me a heads up.

I'm definitely not looking to sell, but as they always say, "Everything is for sale for a price." If you strike out or start to get frustrated with the available options, we have a freshwater '97 400DA with 3116s that's been completely updated with new upholstery, SeaDek, new canvas and glass, etc. It's in tip-top shape and it's not for sale, so it would take a pretty generous offer to separate her from us. But I would certainly entertain the possibility if someone presented me with one of those generous offers.

Everything is for sale. For the right price, I may be persuaded to sell mine and move up again to a nice 480. My dock neighbor got one this past season and I’ve been green with envy since he got it.

But who am I going to talk to about 410 issues?? :(

Lol! My wife keeps saying “don’t even think about it”. She’s been saying it since I first stepped aboard my neighbor’s 480. She loves our 410.

Does anyone know the correct oval cockpit sink diminisons . I want to replace the sink and faucet with stainless steel. I know its been done by others but I can find Information on what was used in any of the posts.need it for 1997 sundancer 400

Huntington Beach to Seattle... Flag car in Calif. and 2 needed thru the Siskiyou Mountains, Oregon & Wash. just wide load signage on the tractor & trailer. Permits were the transports problem, I have no idea.
In 2017 I purchased my 410 from a Saint Lawrence River marina (upstate NY) to Toledo OH. 650 miles. It was loaded onto a quad axle trailer and pulled it with dually pickup truck. A long one day trip. No problem, just a wide load permit and special routing.

Anybody replace the water heater in a 2000'ish 410 w/CAT's? My water heater has been weeping water for a while now (looks original, so somebody got their money's worth), and looks like its time to replace.

Im trying to decide how many items need to come out to get to it. Looks like the exhaust on the port side, plus maybe the cast exhaust elbow?

Pointer and tips appreciated.

Guys, thanks for the info on replacing the stbd fuel sender. That was one of the easier projects I've done. It helps to be inside, warm and have two built in lights right there at the tank opening! The port side looks like a real pain in the ass. Let's hope that one lasts a lot longer. Thanks again.

It's not too bad. My PO installed a AC unit in that cabinet (I use mostly the heat function), so I had to remove it and then get to the sender. The biggest issue with the port unit is it literally is "down a rabbit hole". Once I got to it, it was an hour or two, and most of that was searching for things I dropped on top of the tank.
