    Hi,
I would like to relocate the holding tank filter on my 410 DA. I got a good look at it recently and noticed that one end of the filter is connected directly to the holding tank. Does anyone know of an "off the shelf" hose with the correct fittings that I could purchase to allow me to relocate the filter?
    Thanks
    Pat

Guys, I have tried to search this site for info but can't find it so I apologize if this has been answered before. I remember several posts with really good info. I am trying to find the LED bulb types for the navigation lights on my boat, a 1998 400 Sundancer.

    • Transom light is a Perko and uses a festoon but I do not know the size. Anyone know the millimeters? Recommend a good part number for a hi lumen bright white LED bulb?
    • Red/Green port and starboard lights use a bulb size that an Ancor 520067 fits but when I cross reference that bulb the LED equivalent is way too long. Anyone have a good LED replacement make/model? I would prefer something really bright.
    • Anchor Light- what started this project, is my anchor light (in photo). Anyone replace their bulb with an LED? Can you tell me what the bulb type/model is?

Also in past boats, when I switched on my "running" lights the light at the top of my radar arch would light up in the front and when I switched it to "anchor" it would also light up all the way around. On this boat, I don't seem to have a forward facing high white light. The only time the bulb lights is when I switch on the "anchor" light switch and it lights 360 degrees. Is that right?

These are standard hose fittings, 5/8” I believe. I added a hatch behind the transom door and put a Big Orange Filter in there. When I need to change the media I don’t have to even open the engine hatch!

The OEM Perko fixtures are crap. It’s not because of the light the incandescent bulb puts out, but because that bulb is replaceable. The fixture leaks and falls apart. It belongs in the trash. I waited for longer than I should have for a direct sealed LED replacement, but it’s really no big deal. I had to drill a new hole for a mounting screw, but a sealed stainless fixture is worth it. I was just careful to properly bed it.

You’re right about the 360. That’s for smaller boats. You should have have a separate fwd bulb.

I might try to replace the impeller on the starboard engine before launch this year. Actually I should replace the entire pump to match my new pump on the port engine that the PO put on last season. Some of you mentioned you remove the exhaust to get better access. That makes sense, can someone provide some guidance details on what you remove?

Do you take the whole fiberglass section out? Do you slide the sleeve running from the exhaust to the muffler so it is disconnected from the muffler and rotate the exhaust out of the way?

Curious what you have found to be the best approach.

    Thanks!!!

Cocktail my high white (anchor) is different than yours so not sure. Anyway I think Roller has the best idea and that's probably what I will do in the future. As far as the bulbs go I don't have the exact part numbers for them right now,but I used Superbrightleds.com (for the navs) and the transom was a 42mm and the red/green were 37mm (almost positive). The perko fixture in arch/cockpits are also 42mm if interested. I put green leds in my cockpit (the cheap ones) but used Superbrights for the navs. Hope this helps a little. If I get the time when I get home I'll try to get the exact part number, but I think you can find it easy enough on Superbrites website. Good Luck

Just bought a 2000 410 Express in September. Mine seems to plane out very nice and not much different than the boat I sold last year which was a 1997 400 Express.
Looking forward launch this spring. BTY, do you know QTIP in Sandusky? I have always been partial to the Express.
    Good luck.

Closed on a 2001 410 w/3126's last week! After lots of research and help from folks here...she is ours!!

Unfortunately, 30 minutes into ownership (I kid you not), we lost propulsion in the left transmission, turns out to have a pressure port plug come loose, dumped all ATF into the bilge. Tried to drop the anchor, breaker pops! We reset the breaker and get the anchor set. Call Sea Town and get towed back to port. Very stressful day!!

Company that did engine/transmission survey stepped up, and serviced transmission and cleaned up most of the contaminant in the bilge. Found Rt transmission port plug was loose on that side too, so torqued that down. Finally moved boat to its new temporary home yesterday.

Wow, that had to be stressful especially 30 min after ownership. Thank goodness it didn't tear anything up and the inspector stepped up. Hope you have a great trouble free season .

What an emotional roller coaster that would've been. I can only imagine how you felt when you lost port prop.. Heart must have sunk

It's all uphill from here I'd say

After taking a quick look at it I think it may be easier to just take the starboard pump out.
I’m going to change the impellers in both of my pumps before I launch next month.
Because this is my first time doing them in this boat:
My plan is to remove both pumps and take them home so I can inspect them closely and replace the impellers on the bench in my garage.
I’ve got no idea how old they (the pumps) are and if there is any sign of anything that just doesn’t look right I’m going to just get new pumps.

I removed the stbd exhaust pipe along the engine, and laid some 2" foam on the engine and "hung over the side" so to speak to access my stbd impeller/pump. On both engines you will have to disconnect the oil pressure warning connector and the fuel line. You will have a small fuel spill, but move the hose upward as quickly as you can to minimize the leak. I might have had to unscrew the oil pressure sender as well but I don't recall. It was not hard...If you decide to go for new pumps, FrankW has some good posts on Depco vs. CAT pumps...As you know, the port engine access is just fine...

Might as well change the port fuel filter while you are "hanging over the side" of the engine!!! I've changed it without removing the exhaust, but it will be easier with it out of the way...

And they should have - that is the port that the transmission operating pressure is measured from as a part of the survey; Good news is they took the transmission pressures. Probably simply finger tightened the plug and forgot to wrench tighten. I would put a wrench on them both to make sure.

The windlass will blow a breaker every time if the retract direction is pressed and the anchor is fully retracted.

I think this is 2400 rpm. Based on 13 gal/ hr/side, total burn is 26 gals/hr so just about .9 nm/gal. Fuel burn based on FrankW consumption numbers posted from another thread on here.

2000 rpm is 7.5/side 15 total and 19.9 knots??? Seems a little optimistic. I think this is at best a 1 nmpg boat.

I need to do a little more scientific recording of speeds and burns, but this think is about what to expect...20 to 23 knt cruise.

Is this about what you are seeing JVM?

Port pump is about a 20 minute ordeal, starboard is more like 2 hours. This is just to get them out! I would just replace them both to give you peace of mind.
