410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Recently brought home a 2001 SD. Everything went as planned. Once at home port, hooked up to shore power with new cords, and starboard side is not getting any 120v. Its showing on the panel, but no plugs or systems work. Any tips?

There should be a switch in the trunk where the shore power cords plug in for each. If they’re both on then you would show power on the panel in the cabin.
If you show power to the panel on both sides of the panel and the switches for both of those sides on the panel are on then maybe the switch on the panel for the side you’re having problems with is the problem?

I had a 1997 400 DA (sold it) but have a left over power pack for the Norcold refrigerator. Does anyone know the model number of the Norcold used in the 400DA? Was going to list it on ebay. This is a long ago discontinued part for Nevercolds.
Thanks….
Edit....believe it was a DE461?
I need a power pack for the DE461. Mine only works on DC.

Not sure if this is the problem or not but I had a GFI trip in the cabinet of my aft head one time that had me baffled for awhile. Check for that.

^ This! I didn’t even know there was an outlet under that cabinet until the GFI tripped. It took me weeks and a post on here to figure it out.

He said none of his systems on that leg work either though. The GFI only controls that particular circuit...
Right, that's why I mentioned I don't know if that's his problem or not. I found mine pretty quick and didn't pay attention to what was working and what wasn't. I just know if the blow dryer quit working when my wife's hair is still wet I need to find the reason quick.:D

Since he is getting voltage on the starboard meter on the panel but no power to any of the circuits under that meter I’m thinking the switch on that side of the panel is the problem.

On a routine inspection, I noticed a (green) bonding wire broke on one of my rudders. Does anyone know the gauge of wire and the proper terminals to use?

My thought is 8 awg tinned, not sure about the connections.

Not at the boat right now to verify but pretty sure it’s 8 AWG tinned copper wire and tinned copper lug.

Anyone know what model Ritchie compass came with a '98 400 DA? I think mine has a leak and I'd like to order a repair kit and a cover.

There is a better approach..........send the complete compass back to Ritchie and have them rebuild it. Each model is a bit different; some have upgrades; some do not. I did this a few years ago and the compass looked new in every respect when it was returned. In my case, the interior lighting was replaced with the new style which is LED, the internal card was replaced, new seals and gaskets, refilled with fluid and I think the dome was replaced . The cost was $75.

Not all marine equipment manufacturers are this reasonable and very few support customers at this level. I'd recommend you contact Ritchie and explore a factory rebuild.

That is even better, Frank. I searched some other threads and they indicated the rebuild was only about $20 cheaper than a new one and the repair kit was super cheap. For $75 that's a no-brainer.

Noticed the exact same thing on Friday. I would love to get confirmation that it is 8 AWG or other so that I can take the appropriate parts the next time I go down.

I can confirm that my vessel was 8 AWG I used ANC 111325 and ANC 230236....They were out of stock on these, ANC 252236... But I think either one would be fine.

Thank you that is very helpful!! I'm assuming the only acceptable way to repair this is to run a new wire, so can you tell me where that wire goes? I noticed mine while working on my generator and didn't have a chance to follow the wire. Mine is disconnected at the starboard rudder.

Guys on the wipers I had a hard time finding 26" refill blades from AM equip. Not sure if that is the OEM size, but that is what was on my boat. After searching all over I found new metal arms with the blades at my local O'reilly auto parts in stock. I think they were $15 each.
