410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Hey 400/410 owners - have any of you guys found a neat trick for pulling a wire from the stereo head unit in the cabin all the way up to the helm?

I spent an hour this weekend taking most of the starboard "cubby wall" apart in the mid-cabin area. Without removing the electrical outlet completely I don't see how that wall section comes out. It was at this point I decided to go no further. I was going to start breaking stuff.

Another thought I had was trying to use the existing Clarion remote wires to pull the new wire with. I'm assuming these will be secured along the way but I might give it a shot before going back into the mid-cabin.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I ran new wires from the head unit in the forward cabinet over the seteee to the helm last summer for when I replaced my Fusion wired remote and I was able to use the wires from the old remote to get them through.

Does anyone have pictures of their updated cockpit upholstery? I'm considering having mine re-done.

TIA

Attached is a photo of my cockpit with new vinyl. Only did seats bolsters were in good shape. Removed the gold piping and used white. Material is called softside.

Ben - search for "Impulse III" posts. Frank H had his redone by an outfit in NJ and it looked GREAT!!

Not the best photograph, but it illustrates the idea. We went with full backrests and redesigned to have slightly more back support. Then changed up the color scheme to match the flooring. Overall, I’m incredibly pleased with it and think it modernizes the interior to look like a much newer boat.

View attachment 70715 I also went with full backs. Understand ahead of time that they need to be removed to open the engine hatch. Not a problem if held on with snaps and Velcro.

^ That’s pretty much the exact photograph I used as a guide. I’m not ashamed to admit I wanted my boat to look almost identical to Riptide’s

Has anyone had a shade sail made for their 410/400 DA? I have poles similar to this and want something that will zip into my rear bimini. Looking for ideas

Humph....I hate to be rude, but what was the round about price on that job?

I've said it before around here...several times...this is a very expensive free forum to be a member of! :)

I'd imagine the cost of such projects will be hugely regional. An interior job costing $5k in Ohio could surely be $9k in California.

Love Ken’s cockpit vinyl! Would look perfect on my boat.

John, if u do your’s, make sure to have a backrest made for behind the seat on the step. I should have, but didn’t think of it.

Absolutely!
I hate that stupid seat and leave it out whenever possible. It really gets in my way. But my wife likes having it there so the backrest cushion is a must. I like Ken’s a lot.
On the other hand, I really love the lounger when the table gets dropped and filler cushion gets snapped to the table. Fantastic siesta spot! Fallen asleep on that baby several times while reading a good book on my iPad. Unfortunately my wife doesn’t like it so I rarely get the chance to set it up.

I’ve gotten two rough ballpark numbers. Both guys put it somewhere between 4000 & 5000 depending on what I do and what time of year I’m looking to do it.
When the time comes I’m probably going to remove and reinstall everything myself to save a few bucks. Both vinyl guys are okay with that. In fact, they don’t mind it at all.
I may even do the combing myself. I’ve done it before on my old boat with excellent results. It’s kind of easy to do. I just had the vinyl guy order the extra material for me so it all matched.
I did the removal and install on that boat too and it saved me some cash. That’s all pretty easy to do.
In the meantime, I cleaned mine up really well, keep it clean, treat regularity with 303, and keep pushing for the one more season. The vinyl looks great but I know the stitching isn’t long for this world.
At some point I know it’s on the shortlist of things to do.
