410 DA Trim Tabs-for Tabman

Actually I said over the course of a few posts that we can recommend a Trim Tab up to 42" x 12" with a single actuator. So if you increase the side to side measurement and stay with 12" fore to aft you can probably stay with a single actuator. However you may have to move its position to be in the middle of the side to side measurement.

I did say if you fabricate on your own a Trim tab that is more than 12" fore to aft I would recommend two actuators.

When this thread is done, all of the participants are going to receive a diploma in Trim Tabology :)

I forgot to add, it's fairly easy to add a second actuator. It tees into the hydraulic tubing that feeds the original line on that side. We have a hardware kit that has all the parts needed to do it. So you would need that kit, some tubing and an actuator to add a second one.

Thanks.

Let's see if HUMPH's diver can come up with a measurement to see if it is worth swapping out or adding to existing.

We do appreciate the guidance and assistance.

We can use a single actuator up to a 42 x 12" Trim Tab with drop fins.

Up to 42" you can use one actuator. that's 3 1/2'! Doubt you'd go any larger than that...right?

My current tabs are 29.5" x 8.75" with no drop fins.

I was supposed to measure something for Tom so he could figure out how WIDE a tab I could fit but my mind got side-tracked and now the boat is in the water. I can do it - just have to go for a swim.

Corrected! I will have my diver measure both the tabs and the distance from the tunnel to the tab as well as the outboard edge to the tab.

Ken, any luck getting side to side measurements?

Nope, he didn't have a tape measure with him, sorry. Dom said he is diving to scrub his bottom soon, maybe he can measure? Hey DOM, you out there?

I hope to dive this weekend. I'll take pics of the hatch ram and measure tabs.

Make sure you use a marine diesel ruler that measures in Nautical Inches.

Ho, ho, ho. Funny man. Are you digging at the 410 gas community again???

How 'bout fire up your diesels and head the 300 miles down this way for a visit and let's see how they hold up for you...

300 miles on one tank and that would be a great trip. My engines run like champs and would have zero issues making a trip like that!

Thump!!!

That was me falling out of my chair.

My goodness...a Jersey guy coming south. Why that's unheard of...

But, let us know and we'll show you some Southern hospitality. Maybe I can arrange a tour of Warren Manor for you.

Make sure you get to see the ballroom.

I was just in Virginny last month....ran a set of CATs up to Dom's Marina.....the only Suthin' hospitality we got was some cranky ol' grub in the local convenient store at 11pm when we were filling up on M&Ms for the trip the next morning!
