400 Sedan Bridge - Gen set exhaust noise

I fired up my Westerbeke 8kw Diesel Gen. set today and was shocked at the exhaust noise. Any way of quieting it down? I do sit low in the water with a stern davit holding a 500# dink.

My buddy has the exact same problem... he has tackled it over the winter by adding a gas/water separator and running the gas part of the exhaust to a new thru-hull that is above the waterline. Can't say yet how it works, but will know in a few weeks.

I also changed my entire exhaust system for my gen. I went with an onan resonator and new, larger muffler. Very quiet (I also sit very low and am pleased with the results). The resonator was very difficult to find, at least through Cummins West in CA. Once I met with the manager and show photos of one installed on a Riviera, he finally said he could find one. I can dig up the invoice and part numbers if need be.

I also added a sound shield to my genny.
