BILL, HAVE YOU REPLACED THE CONTROLS AND UNIT FOR THE SALON A/C? HAS ANYONE? IS IT EASY TO FISH THE NEW CONTROL WIRES WHERE THE ORIGINALS ARE?

 

Went to check on the boat today and discovered the float switch for the forward engine room bilge pump was not operational. After troubleshooting I discovered the wire that supplies constant power to the float switch only has 10v. Spent a while trying to trace it but had no luck. All batteries are fully charged.

Any idea where this wire originates? I ran a new power wire direct from the battery to make sure the boat won’t sink but am concerned there may be other things connected where that wire originates.

 

I saw someone do this on YouTube. I just can’t find the video now, the cruisair SMX II panel. I think it was straightforward

 

I just moved the new thermostat behind the starboard couch.

 

DC Breaker panel in port cockpit compartment. It has its own breaker there.

 

This backrest is a beast. Almost there. In the final wrinkle removal stage. Tedious work moving staples, adding batting, and even some re-stitching. It won’t be perfect but will be good enough. When it’s all done there may be a couple of decorative pillows involved.

 

Does that breaker provide power to the float switch or the switch at the helm?

 

Took me a whole week and used 4.5 yards of fabric. The bolster on the bottom took two days. Lots of brain power and meticulous measuring went into it. There are 10 separate panels stitched together. Hardest piece by far so far. Harder than captains chairs.

 

That’s it for the dinette. Now to find out if humidity is a problem for woven polyester and if we can keep spills off of it. I may be back next year putting vinyl back on. But it sure is stunning in person. Really raises the elegance of the interior appearance.

 

Wow, looks like they’re doing a great job! Which marina is doing the repair? Where do you slip the boat?

Did you purchase this boat in Minnesota? It looks familiar, if it’s the boat I’m thinking it is, it was at Windmill Marina until the owner passed away.

I was surprised there was no water cut off valve as standard when I thought about it. Also for the coolant side, like what if you had a coolant leak at the heater, seems common sense it should be as standard easy to isolate. Searay special design ?. Then when I looked at maintenance procedures for Kuuma heaters which apparently are the same as Atwood, there’s a bunch of stuff about an air pocket that needs to be reset, see below link page 6

I’d never read this before, let along be able to do it without a shutoff valve anyway. Plus it looks like a workaround with suggestions in the document to improve . Thoughts appreciated ?

 

Well that was fun. Gutted. Disassembled, in the truck and ready for the dump. Replacing with a custom solution of two 24” barstools and a compact recliner. Only labor is to extend the flooring and close off the wall with a door to access the storage space behind it. Been wanting to do this since we bought the boat. The big bulky storage unit camouflaged as a sofa never agreed with us.

 

I have the bar version layout and the storage is sooo useful and easy to access. Looks like you will now get that convenience, I look forward to the next pics . Btw Is that a concertina style flyscreen on the door , I’ve been thinking of doing the same but can’t find anyone who sells diy kits

 

No, it’s a vertical cellular blind. Of course it’s string broke a few years ago and I had to take the blind off and restring it thanks to online diy instructions.

if you have a picture of how the factory closed off that starboard sidewall, I’d be grateful. I suppose I can find one of your configuration for sale online and find a picture there.

 

Here a pic . cupboard doors go all the way from kitchen to the entry door. Some of the good depth I have in the cupboards you see is because of the bar bench but I expect you could still put cupboard doors across that space even if you end up with less depth . Depends on your design. Or you could tilt your hat to searay and add tambour doors which might make for easier access. I’ve also seen a pic somewhere where someone added a door to the back of the kitchen cabinet to get easy access to that space, I.e on the left of what you see in this pic

 

Last cushion on entire boat complete. Backrest for the salon sofa. I wasn’t sure what I was taking on with this full upholstery renovation. But it’s done. And no more gathered vinyl look. Yippee! Couldn’t stand that style choice for those two years of ‘00-‘01.

Yes, this is an MN boat on the St Croix. We are currently at Bayport Marina (they're doing the work) on C dock. The boat was original to Afton Marina, then it went down to Red Wing to Trenton Harbor, and that's where we purchased it from in the summer of 21.
