    Hey Guys

Quick Question - went to start the boat today and even before hitting the ignition, the systems monitor said low oil pressure on the starboard engine. Had to use the emergency start switch to start it and once it was running, oil pressure is normal on the gauge. Any thoughts?

Theory A: you accidentally left the key on and the breaker on and the starboard start switch in the on position last time you left the boat. However long that was the alarm sounded until the battery went dead.

Theory B: I got nothing else.

BTW, for reference, the deflectors on the bridge you mentioned are known as the Venturi.

I searched the thread and didn't see if anyone replace their small TV in the forward stateroom. What TV did you fit in there or if you didn't, did you repurpose it for storage, how did you trim it out ? I didn't get the TV out yet but it looks very rough back there.

Previous owner did that for me. Put the flat panel on a hinge and screwed down boards to block all of the open spaces in the cavity. Nice big storage place now. I’ll take pics tomorrow if someone else doesn’t show pictures before then.

It’s a 24” TV. I went to replace it with a 28” but the CO monitor got in the way. I may move that one day to put the bigger TV in. But it doesn’t seem to small at 24”. The unpainted board is what they put down so stuff wouldn’t fall down into the hull. It’s just a straight hinge. A typical TV pivot arm is what I have in the salon and probably would work nicely here as well. As you can see they used leftover pieces of starboard to make the back panel that the hinge and TV and latch all connect to, and to block the opening under the TV. One day I might replace all that with a single board.

The mattress in the forward stateroom, has anyone replaced the mattress?

I can get a custom mattress made here, but was wondering if anyone replaced theirs with an off the shelf type. Casper and Purple make some interesting mattresses, just not sure if they would fit.

Did some more work on RayO boat just now. His hull zinc bonding wire broke off from corrosion and divers twisting the bolt when changing the hull zinc. I had to remove the macerator seacock elbow to get clearance to crawl in there. I used this electrical connector thingy with the leg removed to clamp down the wire to the existing ring terminal post. It was either that or haulout and completely remove the bolt and replace with a threaded rod.

Not at boat and hoping to purchase before heading down, Looking for cooling hose on Westerbeke 8.0BTD from sea strainer to Genny. Also on Generator there is a T fitting looks like a plumbing fitting with what appears to be a breather on top any ideas what that is. I will post a pic of both in a min.

    Thanks

    Thank you, Mine is leaking

Looks like the T is made from regular plumbing parts. hopefully it comes apart and i can just get away with swapping the T out.

I can confirm that this is possible. I can also confirm that if you get angry enough with yourself for such a dumb move, you can lift the slider up and down semi-violently and it will pop out of the latch, allowing you to enter the boat. Don't ask me how I know.

Also, while you are having your temper tantrum at the slider, if your your first mate/admiral is more slender than you, she can slip in the forward hatch. Step on the forward corners of the hatch, push down with your foot and twist. The latches open, she can lift the hatch and slip in. Don't ask me how I know.

Thanks for all of the tips on how to break into a SR boat.

BTW, this forum can be read by the public with no sign in and searched by google.

    Thanks again.

In my defense, my slider has a replacement lock. It had been broken into and the original lock destroyed when the previous owner owned the boat. So the temper tantrum trick may not work on boats with original locks. As for the hatch trick, well, that’s relatively common knowledge in the boating word and is not limited to Sea Rays or Brunswick brands.

Very nicely done! What was used on the saloon floor and how did you frame out the hatches? Where the sofas left in place?

Thanks. The sofas were left in place. The material for the floor was an engineered wood, not actual wood. It is is made by Amtico. As for the framing of the hatches, cherry wood was used.

My port side 110 receptacles are not coming on. I found a GFCI in the galley island. I found one in the master head cabinet.
My breaker is on. Is their a fuse behind my cabinet for 110v receptacles ?
Any other GFCI I am missing before I start taking stuff apart?
UPDATE! Found it. GFCI in the guest head cabinet. All is good again. Lol
