This is what’s in there now.

One of mine (the one closest to the hull) appears to be the same that Mark showed above. My other one is a Shurflo 4901-4212. Specs for that one are here:

https://www.pumpvendor.com/media/shurflo/Shurflo_4901-4212.pdf

Googling it seems to indicate that this one is obsolete, with the closest replacement being a Shurflo 4148-153-E75. Specs are here:
https://www.pumpvendor.com/media/shurflo/Shurflo_4148-153-E75_4148-153-A75.pdf

I'm with Mark. If either of these goes up, I'm replacing it. In fact, when/if that happens, I might just replace them both as long as I'm crawling in there, and keep the one working as a spare.

I’m ahead of you all. This will be my third go around for this pump location. If you stick with Shurflo, their current brand is Aqua King Ii. Our original pump as Mark mentioned is 3.3/45. They don’t make that anymore. Their closest are the AquaKing 3.0/55 at $110 or the AquaKing 4.0/55 at $170. I think I’ll just get another 3.0 and wait for it to fail in 5 years or so.

I took the Shurflo pump apart today. There are four valves that seal against an aluminum plate. The valves look great. No debris, no tears, still nice and flexible. But, the aluminum plate is painted black. There was bubbling paint where three of the valves seal. So I sanded it all perfectly smooth but didn’t bother to repaint where I now exposed the aluminum. Not sure why it needs to be painted. Sorry, forgot to take a picture. I’ll let you know if that solves the pressure leak when I get around to reconnecting it and testing it.

I have a couple of questions regarding the removal of the large exhaust hoses in a boat equipped with CAT 3126s. I didn't post these questions in the Diesel forum, as I believe that there are different exhaust configurations possible for different boat models.

My boat with CAT 3126s, has a large (5"-6") hose from the turbo, back to the muffler. Then, 2 hoses from the muffler, with the largest hose going from the muffler to the underwater exhaust port, and a smaller hose going from the muffler to the exhaust port on the side of the boat.

My questions relate to the removal of these hoses while the boat is in the water.

1. Can the hoses be removed safely while the boat is in the water? I would think that at a minimum, that the exhaust port on the side of the boat would have to be blocked as soon as the hose is removed. What about the 2 larger hoses?
2. How much water can be expected in the hose, when it is removed?

Not sure if these are dumb questions or not. Thought I would ask others, that might have removed these before.

thanks,

Dave

Shouldn't be a problem. If you are going to leave the hoses off for more than a short time, you can make up a plug using pvc and a fernco coupling.

Shouldn't be any water in the hoses.

Mark, thanks for the quick response! I searched the forum prior to posting, but mustn't have used the right parameters. Thanks again for getting back to me.

My 5 year old Shurflo Aqua King 3.0gpm water pump has failed. It’s leaking pressure back to the inlet side and won’t hold pressure above 40psi. I’m going to take it apart to look for anything simple. But, should I replace it, what flow rate pumps are you all going with? I went with 3.0 for a pump cost trade off since there are 1.5 or 2.0 gpm regulators on all the faucets and with two pumps I get total flow of 6gpm.

I replaced both of mine with the 5 GMP Shurflo 4158-153-e75. Pros? superior shower pressure. both my wife and I can shower at the same time and have great house pressure. same with flushing the toilet, shaving, doing dishes, ETC while showering. The only con is it will rip through your water tank. As long as you are cognizant of that factor it was a very worthy upgrade. (PS I have removed the water restrictors from the shower heads- Yea, it blasts!)

The discharge hose to the seacock was in bad shape with cracks. Back in the corner it smelled a little funky. The stubby piece of hose from the discharge manifold to the T pump and the deck fitting pump out hose failed the damp rag test, probably because there’s always honey in those hoses. The rest were replaced because now I’ll never have to do it again (hopefully)

Went down to check the hoses Monday and was very thankful they were in "like new" condition. Whew! one stinky job obverted!

Hi David,
I am also attempting the large exhaust tube removal from the muffler to the underwater exhaust port to access the holding tank connection between the fuel and holding tanks to change the engine room run of the sanitation line.
Did you manage to get yours out and if so, where did you start?

Hey Ooli, I am up in Canada suffering through our winter, ( -5C / 25F approx.). I won't be at the boat for awhile yet, so no, unfortunately, I have not started to remove that exhaust hose. Good luck with your project,

Dave

Has anyone (or their first mate) made replacement curtains for the salon? Not the rear slider but the side curtains? Looking for any measurements or patterns, plus we’d love to see examples of the finished products! Ours is a 2003 but I’m sure any model year would help us!

Same here. If anyone has a premade pattern I'd be interested.

She made curtains for the staterooms, salon and rear slider. She used the old curtains as a guide and winged the rest. Sorry, the pictures are on the computer in NY. I'll check with her to see if she has any on her phone later, but I doubt it.
This pic is the best I can do right now.

Took me a sec to even see curtains in that pic, was distracted by Nachos, Beer and Football. :)

Lol. That was the thought at the time!
My adult son and daughter and I always text back and forth about the Bills games while watching. We were on a September trip and my kids were asking where we were and if we had tv reception for the game. They were worried i wouldn’t be able to watch due to NY’s outdoor only dining at the time and it was raining. The pic was to show them they didn’t need to worry about their parents:)

Steve, we used the old curtains for a pattern. I can't get pictures for you for a while, we are down south. Enjoy the snow! Greg

Ha! That’s probably what we will end up doing. I was just curious if people tried any other styles. The pleated look is a bit dated.
