If anyone is wondering. The DC 12v outlet in my salon does not have a fuse behind. You can get behind it from inside the cabinet. I found an open glass fuse behind the DC panel. The outlet seemingly is tied into the salon lighting DC breaker. I think I’ll replace the old 12vdc outlet with a newer USB outlet since I have the wiring exposed.

Good work! Is it connected on the hot or switched side of the breaker? I’ll guess the hot side since it’s fused.

It actually is on the switched side of mine. it turns off with the breaker. To your point the fuse opened before the breaker. It’s a fast acting fuse.

Mine was fused behind it and is active all the time when the batteries are in the on position...

I just checked behind mine. I don’t have that. I have three 7.5a fuses on the switched side of the power vents switch, I am assuming one for each of the three vents. And 2 fuses on the switched side of the Head Systems switch, I am assuming one for each vacuum generator. No other fuses back there (except for four 1a fuses for the CO monitors). So I still don’t know where the salon 12v outlet and the cockpit fridge get their 12v power from on my boat. Both are always hot when battery switch is on.

On a different subject. I had to drive my boat to the repair yard to replace the port transmission. Since I would be running on Starboard only I read here on the forum that I needed to add a crossover pipe to keep the port dripless from over heating. I followed instruction on the post and installed the rubber hose a few inches above the dripless bearings. The 6 hour ride was pleasent and locking through not an issue under single engine. When they pulled the transmission they discovered water in the turbo on the port side. The turbo had to be rebuilt as well. I asked if it could be from the crossover tube and the mechanic said no. He said water backed up through the exhaust and into the turbo and that I was lucky it didn't make it in to the engines itself. In looking at the under water exhaust outlet it seems hard to imagine creating a vacume to pull water up to the turbo. Any body want to jump in on this.

Do you have a picture of your mixing elbow bolted onto the turbo? If it’s the same as us Cummins owners then possibly that elbow has developed holes in the inside spraying water back at the turbo. In that case you will need new mixing elbow or your new turbo will get damaged pretty fast as well.

But, not knowing your exhaust setup, I could be all wrong.

Thanks for the reply, I looked back through ER pictures to see if I had accidentally got the elbow in a shot with something else but did not. I will need to go over to the boat when I get time and get a shot of it.

Both of my TV's quit working from on air signal. They work just fine with an iPad to watch movies, however, they no longer get signal from the HD antenna on the boat radar arch. I suspect the "signal amplifier module" (not sure what its called), activated by the DC accessory switch. Has anyone ever changed this part? Where is it located?

The signal amp is located (on my 2000) on the port side salon, in the little arch where the heat/cool air vent is. The control is accessed right from that arch, with a knob, and the wiring can be awkwardly accessed from the central vac bay, (lower the port couch, open the flip down little door, and then lie on your back....). In the central vac bay there should also be a slider switch that allows you to switch the antenna from the salon TV to the master berth TV. I would recommend checking that, especially the common coax from the TV, as it plugs into the slider switch. Maybe it got bumped the last time the vac bag was changed? (I have a spring project to fix up a couple of the coax connectors that have fallen off, including one in that central vac bay)

Getting behind to access the wiring is a PITA. I took a couple of pix with my cell using the timer feature, and sticking my hand up inside the bulkhead where the switch is located. Here are some pix.
Cabin control, with amp behind it:

I hope this helps,

Awesome David, you da man! I guess I have my New Years project assigned now! Thanks for the pics and info, much appreciated! Happy New Year, hope 2021 is better than 2020.....

I'm gonna build up an ad on here in the classifieds and put my 1999 400 SB on the market soon. It's a gas model that was repowered in 2017 with Mercruiser 8.1's that have right around 120 hours on them. Last summer I replaced the genset with a new Phasor 7.0 diesel PMG. It has about 25 hours on it now.

AC's have been replaced as well. Logbook of all the work I've done to it since owning it.

Where are you located Capt Ron?
I have a friend looking at 400’s. I’d like more info for them if you are kinda close to the chesapeake bay.

David, just as you said, I found the TV antennae signal amp behind the seat back cushion of the salon couch, port side, near the vacuum cleaner. Thanks for the great information, I was at a loss.... B

My 5 year old Shurflo Aqua King 3.0gpm water pump has failed. It’s leaking pressure back to the inlet side and won’t hold pressure above 40psi. I’m going to take it apart to look for anything simple. But, should I replace it, what flow rate pumps are you all going with? I went with 3.0 for a pump cost trade off since there are 1.5 or 2.0 gpm regulators on all the faucets and with two pumps I get total flow of 6gpm.

I think my spare is 3.0 GPM and 55 PSI.
I know the two pumps in the boat are 3.3 GPM, 45 PSI
Mine are original, if one dies, it gets replaced.
