I have been having salon AC unit issues since I bought the boat in February. I put in my contract to have them working to manufacturing specifications or they need to fix it. Well they came out last week and determined that my salon compressor in my AC unit no longer works. They now have to replace the whole unit at no cost to me. I would like to know what you think about a Webasto AC unit? They offered to pick out a few options and for me to make a decision on what I want to do. They said the Webasto provided higher BTU’s which will help keep the area colder and many other features over a dometic unit. I appreciate the advice in advance!

Where do you order your Walker Airsep filters from? Anybody have a Canadian location?

I looked around briefly and then ordered them from West Marine. I have a West Marine pro membership so I get a substantial discount on most stuff there. That's probably not much help to you, but I didn't want to not answer you.

Anyone know anything about the new tech of the frigomar AC units? I saw them at the boat show but didn't look at pricing. they are supposed to besuper quiet and have no large startup spike. Here is the link:

I think I would go this way if replacing. There is a dealer 20 minutes from me though...

The web site says made in italy and a 7000 BTU unit would run close to $5000 if the conversion from euros was accurate

I have a call in to find out for sh!ts and giggles on the AC. I'll keep you posted.

BTW whomever was asking about filters I decided to clean my filters this week as I am sitting on a precision II cleaning kit I get a couple uses out of and try to do them bi-yearly. I figured it was time to clean and ordered backup pair to have on hand so I can just swap out, so I got another set as per above from fisheriessupply.com It cost me shipped $153.98 for the pair, not bad at all. Food for thought.

depending on the type of windlass, my boat came with a Lewmar, which i replaced with the Lewmar V3, you've got an option to swap out/size the gypsy. There are sizing charts for rope and chain combinations. Try to find out what you've got, most of the gypsy's can accommodate a rope chain combo so do a little research before spending the money. i ended up purchasing the V3, installing a control box and chain counter at helm and 300 ft of all chain rode. If you cant find anything about your existing windlass/gypsy message me back and I'll see if I can help
thx i will

another thing i have to deal with now
i have to replace my port engine previous owner had issues with and rebuilt the engine few years ago ,replaced maifolds as well with extended ones to minimize water inversion
wondering how will the take the engine out

A few weeks ago I replaced by starboard oil pressure sender with this part number that I bought from Amazon. It didn’t read anything at the helm. The old, broken, center would bounce around like crazy. This one was dead at zero. I got another one of these, from a local shop, and popped it in today. It works beautifully. So I’m not sure what to think about the one from Amazon other than it was DOA. But, I’m happy, now my oil pressure at the helm reads properly. I’m not sure why I always choose to do these jobs on the hottest and most humid days of the year. But I am glad it wasn’t the port engine sending unit.

I was taking on fuel at Oak bluffs, Marthas Vineyard and gentleman offered to help. He was wearing a Sea Ray L class jacket. I asked about it and he introduced himself. It was Captain Rusty Higgens, recently retired corporate captain for Sea Ray. What a gentleman and nice guy.

I wanna know about that window cover.
Did you have one solid black canvas made or are the side pieces actually separate window covers ? Is it really dark inside with them?

Central vac question.

At another marina this past weekend, everything working well. Went to bed, plugged my phone in to charge at the AC outlet by the TV on the port side of the master stateroom. It started charging. In the morning, it wasn’t charged. Noticed the AC outlet was off. The port AC outlet in the salon was also non functioning, as was the master stateroom TV. Found that the GFI in the cabinet over the sink in the guest head (port side) had tripped. Nothing happened over night that I am aware of, and certainly nothing was being used on the outlets other than the phone charger.

I reset the GFI and it immediately tripped. Several times. The only thing plugged into the port side AC circuit was the central vac. I flipped the control on it to manual, but the GFI still tripped. Tried Auto again, still tripped. Unplugged the vac and the GFI reset properly. Left it unplugged for the rest of the weekend, without any issues. I have not tried to replicate the issue yet back in my home slip.

So I’m wondering what the cause might be? And what would have happened overnight to cause the problem? Would it be the auto/power switch on the vac? The power supply in the vac? Maybe the wires in the cabinet in the second state room (where the hose plugs in) somehow got bumped and caused a short?

Has anyone had this sort of behavior? Any ideas on what might be the cause of this behavior?

Could be the power supply in the vac.

What I would do is get a short extension cord, plug the vac to the extension, then try plugging in on another circuit.

If it trips again, take the vac out, take it home and open it up.

IIRC there is a transformer that drops it from 120v to 24v.

I repaired mine for about $25 with a new transformer found on eBay.
