There was some useful discussion a while back that helped me engineer the replacement of the original Panasonic salon TV/VCR in my 40' 97 Sundancer. The suggestions were to remove - very carefully - the trim piece that runs all the way around the top edge of the salon cabinetry and in front of the bottom edge of the old TV mounting location. Not wanting to mess with this fragile trim piece and the edging on it, and knowing that my use for a 15" non-digital TV/VCR package was zero, I found an easier and quicker way to accomplish this. And yes, the TV and VCR are still functional.
The existing TV is mounted to it's platform with 4 screws, each located about 1" in from the 4 bottom corners. By slightly prying between the base and the TV about a 1/2' in from the edge with a long (16" screwdriver, and then pounding it toward the back, you can break off the plastic mounting posts, first in front and then in back. once both sides are snapped, the TV comes right out and you can then remove the plastic mounting base by removing the small 3/8" screws that hold it down.
Once out, I then fabricated a solid mount inside the cabinet out of 2x4's, installed the new TV wall mount, and installed the new 19" flat screen/DVD combo unit.
I thought this may help and simplify future replacements and it only took about 4, well-thought-out hours to complete. I have pictures if anyone is interested.
