I see from the picture the nice floating docks do not have a pole between them. How in the heck do you dock, especially in the wind, without hitting the other boat in that well? To me that would be a deal breaker.

Also, it's not uncommon in the north to not have the marinas not frozen over this time of March. You'll be surprise how fast the ice melts. Won't be long!!

No marinas anywhere in the PNW have pylons between the slips. Most people hang fenders on the outside of their vessels as a courtesy just in case. I’ve personally never had an issue. Twin screws and a bow thruster makes it easy IMO. I don’t go out if winds are much over 20kts though.

This is Northpoint Marina i Winthrop Harbor, IL, right on the state.line between IL and WI. Apparently the largest harbor on Lake Michigan.

Regarding docking, I dont have a boat in the well next to me, so not much of an issue. I guys the guys that do are probably just better at docking that I am.

No pylons here either. You can see in my pic below. There is a boat to my port side that you can't see in the pic. There is about 6' or 7' between us.

Like Yobub, I do not have anyone sharing the well with me so it currently isn’t an issue.
