4 Bears in a tree

We’ve had bears to the house a couple times already this spring but didn’t take any pictures. This picture was taken by some people on the other side of town. It’s not to often that you’re able to see this many up the same tree and get a pic….thought you all would get a kick out of it.

We have a cabin in Cornucopia (we probably already discussed this) and we're seeing more and more Black Bear. My Mother-In-Law had a cub last year in a tree at the cabin yelp at her. She promptly left because momma was probably near-by.

I'm itching to get up there in the next few weeks!

Black bear came around my Moms house yesterday. Neighbors dog chased her cubs and she turned on my moms dogs. Two got away but cricket didn't make it. Pretty unusual but the mamma bear killed her. Needless to say Moms upset today after that. RIP cricket, I always hated you and your God awful bark. You should have died with more dignity than being killed by a bear though.

OK, so a miracle happened this weekend. Cricket survived the bear attack.



She was found 6 miles from home holed up in an abandon house. Someone scooped her up and took her to the pound which posted pictures of her on Facebook. A neighbor recognized her and she was soon reunited with my Mom.

She was lucky to not only survive a bear attack but also 8 days in the woods. She was injured by the bear but luckily it got her back end instead of the front. She has a laceration that was stiched at the pound and a deep puncture wound as well as abrasions.




BTW, thanks for posting that great picture Woody. What happened to Moms dog is proof black bears are pretty harmless. I mean if they can't kill a 5# dog...
