Hi , just a question...
I have an engine that's decided to stop turning over and has worked 3 times this year ok with the last time running May time. Now it wont turn over and has knackered the starter up which has been replaced by the new mechanics. The previous mechanic gave up and cant hand crank it and mentioned something about a flywheel bar etc. The thing is the engine has had a new starter/fuel pump/ oils and filters / manifolds and risers etc over the year with very little run time on it and the oil is still like golden colour (no milky residue) and spark plugs are new too.
These new mechanics are saying the engine has seized???????? and are trying the diesel in the spark plugs to penetrate the rings..... now I'm thinking the engines not stuck but at a loss to what it could be and haven't spoken to these guys for a few days.
Has anyone else had this issue and possible remedies / rectifications as i'm being told I will have to pull the engine out and may look at a new engine which I don't want.
The other thing to say was that the last time before the starter packed in was the engine tried to fire up when turning the ignition and nearly caught a few times but then gave in which is why I don't believe the pistons are seized. Thanks in advance.

With all spark plugs removed, can you easily rotate the engine?

Does any water come out of the spark plug ports when the engine is rotated?

You say the oil is clean and a good color......is it at the proper level on the dipstick? Or is it higher than normal?

Is there slight movement with the crank? Could try removing the belt as well before the drive.

Hi, thanks. I think the oil is good levels and not sure what the mechanics have done as wasn't there. I don't think they have removed the belt to try to hand crank it but I guess its not budging one bit. I think there is no issue on the outleg as had that off a while back after it dripped oil and the other mechanic had said that all was fine as I thought about redoing the anodes internally while the leg was off.
Its just bizarre as it was turning over before and never heard a bang like you would expect if the pistons were knocking the valves etc and no indication of any water ingress anywhere on the engine or plugs.
There was a mention of the linkage between the fly wheel and the piston rods ??? falling off which may lodge stopping the crank from turning but that's a full engine removal and strip down and as I am in the water navigation will be hard.
