39 sea ray (tank leak)

Can I just leave the old tank and put another in alternative location?
Hate to cut everything up.

It's your boat - you can do anything you want. Keep in mind that water weighs about 8lbs per gallon as you decide on a location. But there's certainly no reason it can't be done.

I've never used one, but if I was in your shoes, I might do some research on bladder tanks - possibly being able to fit it into the original tank (depending on access, of course).

Thanks. I am looking at bladders
James,

Could you share what your final solution was? The previous owner of our 390 added a plastic tank between the engines. They also installed a PuraSan and removed the holding tank. I’d like to get the weight of the freshwater tank further forward like the original design. Our Marina is also considering a ban on Type 3 MSD so I may need to look at reinstalling a holding tank. It would be great to know where the original tank was located.

Thanks for any info you can offer!

Dave

Try contacting @Ricochet on here. I met him up North while cruising, and he's got an amazing 39 Sundancer and I have to believe he'd know the answer.

Thanks for the heads up. Our boat is the 390 sport fish, but they may share a similar configuration.

My 390EC has the holding tank on a shelf on the port side opposite the water heater. The pump out hose connected to the fitting on the lower left area of the stern labeled waste.

Like hottoddie said the holding tank is on a shelf on the port side opposite the water heater 20 gallons some were 30. The original water tank on the 390 express is located under the galley floor between the stringers yours might be the same you should be able to find some evidence if it was there, the original tank was 100 gallons when I replaced mine I had a custom 70 gallon one made for ease of installation. I do have some photos of that project…let me know if you want me to dig them up.

Thanks TNT8808 for the nice comments!
