One of the frustrating deficiencies in the cockpit of the 380 Sundancer is the lack of cup holders.....there aren't any!

What have you guys done to install cup holders in the cockpit of your 380?

West Marine sells cup holders that are mounted with suction cups and they work great. While I have some on the 480 DB, I find these are great supplementals and I can use them on the tender, as well. They cost about $9 for the units that can hold two cans.

Whwn I bought my 380 had the dealer intall Searay cup holders in the same locations as the 420.

Member osd9 had these on his former 380DA

I used those suction cup plastic ones from Boaters World. They looked OK, and they were easy yto deal with. I put some over by the cockpit sink, and behind the captains seat by that cooler-thing. There were a couple by the helm seat, as I remember.

Actually, those cupholders that Pete put up are on my 410DA. I did put some of the same cupholders on my 380DA. I've added 6 or 7 of the SS cupholders on both my 380DA and my 410DA. I have some other pics at home that I'll post later.

I couldn't find the pics of the cupholders on the 380DA, but I attached links to the cupholders on my 410DA. The two boats are very similar. Additional to the pics below, on the 380DA I added three cupholders around the ice bucket just behind the Helm.

Three cupholders on the transom...

One cupholder on the port side of the cockpit just ahead on the cabinway....

And, by replacing the large cockpit table with a smaller table, 4 additional cupholders....

I have cupholder envy....

I don't know about best, but I bought them on ebay for about $8 each...you'll also need a 3.75" hole drill from Home Depot...

ok, i'm getting rid of all my suction cup holders and buying some of these. they look great.

You power your whole boat off that itty bitty electrical cord?

When the boat's behind the house, I only need 30amps to power the whole boat. I keep a single cord at the dock and the splitter is in the trunk so I can power both sides. I don't really leave anything powered on expcept for the battery charger....This way, when it's time to go, I just unplug one cord and leave it at the dock....two other 30 amp cords are neatly coiled in the trunk....

Dom...did you have the cockpit table custom made or is it one from a different Sea Ray model? I like the molded in cup holders.

There are 2 size cup holders. make sure you select the ones you want. The smaller ones might not work.

don't forget when you add these cup holders that will be an acess point for water now. Anything you store under there can get wet. Most cupholders have a plastic stub on bottom so you can connect to a hose and direct the water where you want it to go.

I have the white plastic cup holders. Do the stainless steel cupholders get hot in the sun.

Jeff:

I'm not embarrassed to say I bought it on ebay ....it was supposed to be a temporary solution that sort of turned permanent....It only cost about $35 with the shipping and it came with a base already installed that fit the existing stanchion......Here's where I'm sure I'll take some heat....it's off of a can boat.....

The stainless cup holders that I used are the larger size and they have a "stub" drain on the base to connect tubing to route away any liquid....or you can just plug the drain....

What you really have to be carefull of is where you drill..... On the 380DA, around the cockpit ice bucket, there are wires you need to avoid hitting. On the 410DA, around the cockpit sink, there are water lines you don't want to poke a hole in either...the old saying, "measure twice....", really comes in here....

i know you can plug them but picture this; You forget to clean them out and you close the boat up for the week and come back....eeeewwwwww!

I think it would be look 3 times, measure twice and cut once.

so dom, do the cup holders out in the sun get hot at all?

I Haven't had that happen....yet....but I personally would rather have the eeewwww in the cupholder, than all over whatever is below the cupholder.. The cupholder just pops out and you can clean it. This is purely a personal decision.

I agree 110%.....I probably even looked 5 or 6 times. You also have to be concerned with all the fiber particles that go "EVERYWHERE" when you drill. I mentioned before in a thread about installing rod holders, but what I did, was "build" a box around the hole I was drilling using old newspaper and masking tape. Also, if you can, put something under the area to catch whatever falls down. And keep the shop vac handy, but remember to face the shop vac's vents outboard......did I mention that the fiber particles get EVERYWHERE?

They are stainless steel so.... yes.... they do conduct heat, but no more than your SS rails. You won't burn yourself touching them, and, If you're worried about your drinks getting super heated, I haven't noticed that anymore than any other cupholder holding a drink in the hot summer sun. The holders are the large size, so any beverage... beer comes to min....... that I put in them always go in one of those rubber insulator thingies...I forget what you call them....

Dominic,

Good pictures. I like the ones on the transom. Not sure about on the counter around the sink. It must have taken some kind of a strong drill to go through that counter top, no?
