I know there was talk about poor sales and possibility discontinuing the 370 venture in 2016. I don't see it on the site, is that model gone for good? I had a chance to board one at a boat show and the layout is fantastic. I know a couple guys here have them and the general review was positive.

Edit: Just found the "official" venture thread and it looks like that was the case, and the demand just wasn't there.

Proves again that innovation is great, but most buyers evaluate price/value as well as innovation when making a decision. This boat retails for over $400K.
Personally, I liked the boat but wouldn't buy a 38' boat without a side deck and without even the option for a full hard top.

That's a good point. I see them in the mid-high 200's now which puts them in the ballpark of what a 370DA of the same vintage would go for. Maybe they could blend the technology with the Sundancers features and find a happy medium but I can't imagine they would try that anytime soon given the quick demise of the venture.

I looked at the fuel burn on that boat and it was terrible. You needed to be running at 90% of WOT or the boat would not plane. It seems the out boards just didn't have the lift needed to get the boat up on plane unless you really pushed it. (Not that I am winning any prizes with my fuel mileage on my boat )

Fuel burn according to boattest.com doesn't actually look terrible. They have it best cruise at 5k RPM and 25GPH doing 30MPH, which translated to 1.24MPG. Like you, I think my concern would be the RPM needed to stay on plane. I know merc rates those verados for continuous load at high RPM but that just seems like it's asking for trouble.

Ideally loved the layout. The Interior was incredible with the aft full beam master. Also loved the idea of the outboards...super quiet and easier on maintenance. I know the boat test report used Verdo 300's. Now with the 350's, I wonder if 100 hp would improve performance. Even tough they are discontinued I am still interested in if the pre-owned prices ever break $200k.

I was hoping the Venture concept would trickle down into the 310/330 size range. That would be perfect for my needs.

I'd love to see it in a 330. I probably wouldn't consider jumping to the current 330 from our 290, but if they put outboards on it the space gain may be significant enough to consider a boat in that size range as a step up.

Venture was defiantly the quietest Big boat I've been out on. Handling for a 37 was crazy cool. Just not a boat for us Northern folks. Nice as a weekend day for warm climate.

People wanting this style of boat can still get one in a Pursuit SC 365i. Layout is very similar and the boat tests of the time liked the way the outboards were mounted for better access for routine service while keeping seawater out of the enclosure. The testers also report better planning and sea keeping on the Pusuit vs. the SR. I believe Pursuit is still building this boat.

Interesting, I didn’t realize this boat was out of production.

I also figured it was a good concept for reasons noted by others.

Those Pursuits are nice boats, and geared more towards fishermen anyway, which makes sense for this layout.

looking for a 370 Venture or similar design. Went to the SeaRay site and for 2016/2-17 doesn't show the Venture as a selection. Thus one must conclude they've halted production.

likely this will have a negative impact on resale value of the current Venture fleet.

like many on this thread, i love the concept, and yesterday walked through a 2014 venture. This type of boat is also produced in the Middle East, and for local consumption in Japan (not putting the brand names here out of respect for SeaRay). a similar design, but for fleet usage, is manufactured out of China for a Cincinnati based manufacturer. Also looking at catamaran outboard designs. i'm in a lot of thin water, and like being able to lift the motors and put her on a sandbar.

does anyone have information as to why SeaRay pulled out of this design ?

Poor sales is the usual reason builders stop production.

Yep. Just thought even if this is an old thread, if anyone here had thoughts why people don't like.

Confirmed with a broker that they produced about 60 of these.

Confirmed that Searay is likely coming out with a Grady White type boat, designed for this specific fishing type market. Camper on the water isn't as big a draw apparently as with the 370 Venture.

I love the idea of outboards on a large cruiser, and it seems that SR is doing more with OBs these days (240 / 270 / 290 Sundeck and the new 310 / 350 SLX). I'm sold on the benefits of outboards, and can let the function out weight the form... It feels like the 370 was more of a "public R&D" model, and hopefully we'll see more than just day boats expanding on this trend in the future.

Pursuit still manufactures its 365i with is similar to the Venture......I to loved the designs and can only imagine how quite the rides are in both.
